Hi all, wonder if anyone can help me with a part number for '98 Tdi 300, WA784***
I need to change the rear tail lights on my Disco, for the ones that have the indicator built-in, as my current ones don't.
I'm just about to have it MOT'd in France and I suspect that the current lights won't pass.
I believe I could use Tdi200 ones which are p/n PRC6475 & 76 but there are a number of others such as: AMR5150 & 51; AMR1294 & 95;

Which will be easiest to fit and get the connection I need?

Any will fit the hole and wiring is a bit of leccy work to the indicator bulb and tail light.

I have a 98 300 TDi just went to local breakers and acquired myself light units with indicators incorporated, if you're lucky as I was the connectors were the same and it was a straight swap and plug it in.

Hi Elmer, thanks very much for your input.

I am a clot, because I had forgotten that we also have a tdi200 !!!

So yesterday I stripped out a rear seat in the 300, took out the light unit and connected the one from the 200 and Bingo, all functions work immediately, not mods required - so have just bought a new set of Tdi 200 tail lights.

Thanks again for your comments.

Cheers
Dave

I've been a LR fan for years but have never had one up to now. I've seen there has been controversy about the rear lights for a long time but have never bothered to look into it. So what is the story about the lights only being in the bumper and not in the pillars? I am sitting comfortably.
I have a 300 Disco 1 and only my bumper lights work. I have the technical ability to fit lights in the pillars but is it legal? Do i have to keep the bumper lights as well as the pillar and will it pass the MOT with pillar only? I would like to fit LED lights in the pillar, again is it legal and will it pass the MOT?
Thanks for your advice, Phil

Yes no different to 200tdi

Do i have to keep the bumper lights as well as the pillar and will it pass the MOT with pillar only?

Nope 200 does not have them and they pass the mot - as long as you have them and they work as required

I would like to fit LED lights in the pillar, again is it legal and will it pass the MOT?

Yes no problem as long as they work and indicators don't go crazy

200s only had pillar lights 300 got bumper lights as there was a notion that with door open the spare wheel covered the pillar lights so 300 got them in bumper but then LR seem to have put full pillar lights as well as bumper lights, maybe using up left over bits from 200 production line or some thing ( NOT saying that's the reason, I don't know, but anything possible)

Thanks for the info. I suppose the lights would be covered with the tailgate open, so may be worth keeping the bumper lights as well

I have indicators in both bumper & pillars. I also have Led brake lights & side lights. Have passed the UK MOT twice now. Have left indicators alone as yet, but I know there are LED bulbs out there with extra wiring in them so you do not have to fit extra resistors so indicators and bulb failure warning systems continue to work,

Not sure about the rules in France, but as the Disco left the factory with up to four indicators on the rear I wouldn't worry too much.
