Hi peeps

So got my nice shinny new synergy 2a coming :)

Done the bypass and k&n filter and that was a vast improvement so looking forward to fitting the chip.

My question is what setting have you all got yours on ?

I have an auto and did I read somewhere to have it on setting 6 or did I dream that ?

Just need to do the new crankcase breather then

Happy days ;)

I have mine on 3, 2005 manual and i'm getting a 5 MPG improvement and the flat spot is gone.

I'm running on setting 6 with mine but it's a synergy 1 & I believe the synergy 2 is different. It will come with instructions but the best thing to do is to run it at Rons maximum recommended setting for the auto. Problem is that the absolute maximum setting on the synergy produces more torque than the autobox can safely handle if you want it to last.

Mine's a manual and I have mine set on 2 with the Bosch MAF. Any higher and the engine management light comes on and it goes into limp home mode. I think this is down to the fuel rail sensor though

mines an auto and i use either 1 or 4 anything else produces too much smog, seem to remember that Ron doesnt recommend 2-3 for autos. let me know if you want me to dig out the paperwork/instructions and i'll send them to you.

Why's that?

My misses drives the Freelander and its an auto plus its fitted with all the usual changes and a Synergy and Pierburg MAF and its set at 2 and has been for months.

Interesting to know why 2 or 3 is not recommended now?

remember that Ron doesnt recommend 2-3 for autos.

Subject: Re: synergy 2 question

When the maf switch is off, the performance should drop, the diesel smell be reduced and the gearbox work more smoothly.
If these symptoms dodn't change much then this is because the maf is overfuelling (the Synergy's maf compensator is just making this worse, rather than causing it)

Setting 2 is a good all round setting for autos as well.

I could have (must have) been mistaken, i will dig the paper work out out that i got with mine when my trapped nerve in my neck gets better!

righto - the documentation i have states for autos ( thanks Wife for digging this out for me)

"if hunting occurs in use a setting with lower throttle response such as 1, 4 or 7. these settings retain the standard throttle action until the pedal is pressed well down. 2, 5 and 8 may also be suitable"

So if you have a Pierburg MAF them use settings 6 through to 10, otherwise 1 through to 5. Therefore if you have an auto with a bosch 9standard) MAF settings 1, 2 or 4 should be ok.

until i'm proved otherwise...

hi

fake elvis, i really hope you didnt think i was trying to step on your shoes, i really do apologise for that and feel very guilty posting it.

i only intended it to be helpful and not to try and be rude to anyone.

i feel for you having trapped nerves in your neck, ive got a dozen pins and screws in my lower back and thats painful enough but i imagine it being in your neck that must be more painful and restrictive as hell.

hope you get better soon, and sorry once again

all the best

Fitted synergy 2a this evening along with BMW crankcase breather mod.

I called roverron today and asked the question.

There reply was setting 7 for an auto and that's what I have it on.

Went for a run and my god what a transformation ! It's like going back to petrol !

Well pleased with all the mods.

Egr bypass
Crankcase breather
Synergy 2
And replaced intercooler hoses

Goes like **** of a shovel now :)

Gary - not a problem, I didn't read it like that at all (just you, Red), I wondered if mine had been set wrong for the last 6 months...seem to remember that setting 2 and 3 produced too much smoke. PS: Diazepam works wonders!

Is that with the pierburg MAF?

I have the standard Maf and have mine set to 2

hiya

diazapam nice stuff- i take 60mg of mst morphine every day for mine.

i have been messing around with my synergy, i still have the bosch maf fitted.

ive since put the box to number 2- as its an auto box and turned the maf switch to off.

as when it started up i got a strong smell of diesel, after speaking to Ron he said it sounds like the synergy is over compensating the signal to the maf therefore overfuelling the car.

going to run it for a few tank fills to see what i know get

is about 30mpg about right

thanks again

Just got back in mine today after a week out of action and am going to run it on setting 2, maf off, for a tank of juice to see how it goes, will let you know!
