hi all just bought a range rover mk 111 2003 diesel ive noticed it has had a new driver side leg fitted and this side seems to sit higher than the other 3 corners and when you look from behind the car seems to list to the passenger side do ineed to calibrate the side that seems high and does anyone know where i can get this done im in london or is it a air sack problem ive checked for leaks and cant see any :(

A new bag shouldn't make any difference as it's self levelling so it can make up for any difference in height.

Check underneath each front wheel where the lower suspension arm is mounted there is a sensor connected to this bush.

Make sure the sensor isn't bent or broken off

As mine did the same when my mounting rod snapped off of my sensor causing the unlevel height.

I calibrated mine myself using all coms device but any good land rover specialist should be able to do it for you.

Glad I done mine as it was well out of calibration !

I concur with the Hippo....

Regardless of air strut fitment, the system measures height using a sensor mounted to a suspension arm so regardless of air strut it measures the phsyical height from the suspension components.....

As above check the sensor fitment and wiring....

When I bought mine, the previous owner had the system calibrated to sit 1" lower than normal - I had it recalibrated at a Land Rover dealer to ride correctly and took about 20 minutes (the original charge was £108 - but as they only took 20 minutes the guy felt embarrased to charge me the full whack so we settled on £65)

London is a big place, a little more detail required as there maybe someone with the All Comms or other plug in device local to you who can recalibrate for you....

Or if you intend to keep the car, get the All Comms software and lead or one of the other diagnostic devices as it will save you in the long run....

Just like Hippo, I invested in the RSW Solutions All Comms and it has been very useful thus far.....

I bought it direct from the Legend and Genius that is Storey Wilson (he is an American who has devoted an immense amount of his time in developing the All Comms system in amongst his regular job) so was shipped over from the States, took 12 days, cost me £155 for the All Comms, £24 delivery and £16 import and VAT charges, so about £185-£190.

If you have more money in the bank, you could try one of Blackbox Solutions units (Nanocom or Faultmate Extreme), the GAP Diagnostics IIDTool or the Bearmach Hawkeye.

Nanocom does not cover the L322 as far as I'm aware at the moment:)

thanks guys will check the sensor out today i live in london sw20 wimbledon so if anyone has coms to help before i order one i would be grateful as it takes a while for delivery

How was the drive back??

With the suspension sitting a tad lower and all square - on those 22"s the ride could be a tad harsh compared with 18's or 19's...

Just been reading up - as your on 22"s it may have been prudent to adjust the ride height a tad to compensate for the larger wheel size

How did it drive? If you want the height adjusted for the larger rims, let me know!!

Mine was riding too high when I fitted my 20" stormers

Now calibrated It sits lower and the handling was improved :D

You're too kind - it was a pleasure to meet with you too.

Glad you drove away happy - and the car rides better - the 22"s will make the ride a tad harsher and ride tighter, but she doesn't have that noticable lean anymore.

Keep coming back to LZ - we ain't a bad bunch really!!:D

Not sure if I need to (but happy to do so) raise a new post as I am new to this but similar to Radad I have also recently purchased a L322 (04) diesel and have a problem with the suspension/levelling. Last weekend I noticed that the rear is now sitting lower than the front. The air suspension is working fine and will change height when using the ride height control however no matter what setting is selected the back always sits lower. I've had the compressor checked and its fine, there are no leaks and supposedly it's not the height sensors. My mechanic is suggesting I take it to Landrover to have a diagnostic run on it? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

:welcome2:

Take a gander at this chart (attached as image)....

The rear does sit lower than the front as per normal, time toget the tape measure out and take a look, cycle the suspension to off road height and back to standard and measure the heights at all 4 corners....

Any major differences could mean it needs recalibrating.

Thanks Saint, much appreciated. I will give it a measure later this afternoon and revert back. I agree that it should sit slightly lower but it definately isn't right. I parked it next to my friends and it is a good few inchs lower. Ill measure up and also post a picture. Thanks

Ok the results are in they are as follows (measurements are from the the bottom of the rim)

Standard height
Front right - 711
Front left - 696

Rear right - 672
Rear left - 670

Off road height
Front right - 763
Front left - 748

Rear right - 708
Rear left - 706

Access height
Front right - 665
Front left - 658

Rear right - 628
Rear left - 632

So the car is definitely sitting much lower versus the table you sent. What is odd is that at access height the rear left is higher than the right yet at the other settings it is the opposite.

Not sure if it makes any difference but it had a new steering column fitted only 3/4 weeks ago as the original collapsed and the owner didn't notice if the suspnsion was faulty when he collected it.

Photo of the car with the setting at access level. Notice how low the rear is.
