hello mr taffy!! job done. get some nylocs to replace old ones.a couple of jacks.and thats it. went on no problem.used spring clamps etc. i have used a polywotsit doodle bush kit. but its steers and returns fine. handles good.goes over bumps fine. needed a side kick to assist but its by far not immpossible. looks the t*ts. good luck. next is bit of underneath protection and a snorkel!!

Hello Mr STebbo! wow that is good news. so u would recommend it then? got a pic? wanna see how high it is now! hehe so shocks and springs is all I need then.??

Modify your damper mount :D

the axle will only come up a set distance :D

Guess what i have planned for the futre :)

I have to be really careful what I do over in Spain as the ITV (MOT to you) do not allow modifications to the vehicle. Even different tyres are ilegal if they differ from what was fitted at new. There are some exceptions but it's a bit complex. So moving the damper mounting would be a no no, I have just finished fitting a winch plate and winch and have spent considerable time hiding it all behind the standard grill, I am hoping that the guy at the ITV station considers it a necassary (is that spelt right?) modification to drag dead cows ect of my land!

The car parts trade is like a closed shop over here, like most things. You are not allowed to fit non factory parts so if Land Rover sold a winch and THEY fit it then it can be added to vehicle spec for ITV.

Another example; you can go in a car spares shop and buy oil and perhaps a filter but you cannot buy feeler gauges as this is considered a 'tool' so that belongs in another shop go figure!

Hello to all

I've been reading through this thread as I have a discovery one with knackered shocks and springs that I intend to fit a 2 inch lift to. Having read quite a few horror stories, I was having second thoughts but having read the posts here, I've decided to go ahead.

I do have one question however if someone would be so kind as to help - Whats the best tyre size to move up to to make the most of the suspension ?

The reason I'm looking at having the lift is that the wagon regularly goes off road whilst loaded with dirty caving types, ropes and tackle (belive me - some of the tracks to get to the caves are evil !!) and I'm come dangerously close to both getting stuck or damaging the wagon. I belive a 2 inch lift coupled with slightly larger tyres would help ??

Any advice would be apreciated - as you will guess, I'm a newbie to all this, so please be gentle !

Thanks

Which ITV place you thinking of going to ?

Thanks. I did have a look at this and also the tyre size calculator - quite interesting as I (wrongly) thought that a 255/65 .16 would be taller than the 235/70.16 thats fitted at present !! I was really wondering what others may have used in the past and what worked ? Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to build a monster truck or anything - Just something that has a bit more clearance off road so as not to destroy the underneath.

The vehicle will be used as everyday transport as well so I'm concious of knackering it's road manners and I'd rather avoid chopping the bodywork if possible so it looks like I'd beter get researching !!

Thanks again

Darren

If you don't want to do any cutting you will struggle to fit anything bigger than 235/70s, maybe go to 31" but not totally sure on that one.

To fit larger tyres you only need a little trimming at the rear arch and front bumper but it makes a lot of difference to sizes you can fit.

Search camel cut to see the trimming of the rear

WTF is this Resurrect an old thread day. The fookers nearly 3 years old FFS...

Sorry, I thought it best to use an existing thread that was on topic rather than start a new one on the same topic.
