Hi everyone, hope to meet up soon and get out on the lanes. Thought things would be good for this Sunday, but things have not gone to plan and it now looks unlikely i'll have time now as the workshop seems to be taking up all my spare time.

Would have done if id knowen yesterday.

Ok, NEXT SUNDAY (22nd) im going to go round the HINDHEAD LANES. I may skip some of the easier lanes so we have time and day light for some realy sticky clay lanes that we dident do last time.

Anyone else how wants to come please PM me. Also tell me if your up for the hard stuff at the end (clay track with lots of ruts), and let me know if youve got a winch or waffle boards so i can get an idea of how equiped for it we are.

Rich.

Aternoon All,

Not the ideal thread to ask on I know but I'm looking for locals!

Had my rangie for a couple of years now, and been lightly off road a couple of times and really enjoyed it, and every day I grow more attached to it, even though the wife doesn't allow me to drive it to work, apparently there is a recession on! Which means she gets to drive it!

I live in Cranleigh, surrey, and we're always seeing the green laners around.

But before getting into it, I think I need a more practical education about fixing these things before going off and breaking them. Mine could do with some work on it anyway.

So I'm offering my weekend laboural services maybe some evenings as well, to someone in the local area, in return for some mechanical training in the art of Land Rovers.

Just so your not too scared off, I'm pretty practical and turn my hand to most things, and have worked around the edges of cars, pads, discs etc. But am thinking I would like to learn my way around what else that lives under my bonnet, Head gaskets, pistons, cooling, drive shafts, diffs etc.

And tackling some of the above without a guiding hand worries me.

Also the car has got to the point where if anything big goes, it's not worth having a garage do it, but probably would be worth it with just parts and my labour. Plus I `really enjoy tinkering with things anyway

So if anyone in my area fancies some help/keen student. Drop me a line

Regards,

Jelbear

My ears are burning!! someone call?

Hello Jelbear

I'm in Cranleigh too, well actually Baynards so not far at all. I don't much about Rangies I'm afraid but I do have a pet mechanic for any big stuff on my 90 that I can't do myself.

There are a few locals that go out laning, I've tagged along but I'm not totally equipted for some of the tracks and tend to like the easier non damaging stuff.

Keep an eye on this tread as there are always peeps organising outings.

So when I'm in Cranleigh what wheels am I looking for to wave to?

Hi Medusa,

Baynards, not that far away at all.

As I said earlier, I`d would like to start to doing some off roading eventually, just don't feel I can justify it yet.

Theory being that if I break it I'll have to pay large garage fees get it fixed. So the way I see it before you get to have fun you need to put your time in learning how to fix and maintain it. I find that sort of thing fun anyway!

So really keen for someone to show me the ropes around engines etc.

I take it when you say pet machanic you mean your other half. Very useful for you indeed.

Currently the money pit is a N reg P38 range rover 4.6hse coloured dark grey. Currently needing more money sunk into it!

I like to idea of easier non-damaging stuff!
