How do you deal with the bubbles? Just grind back, rust remedy and then smooth and primer over the top?

That's going to depend on the corrosion. if its bad or gone through it's going to be a cut it out and weld in a new fabricated piece.. if its just surface rust, flush it down treat it, flush it again then smooth and prime.

Picked up a pair of Rover orgional rocker covers today. painted the front wings and light boxes..

Yet another failed delivery today.. the rear wheel arch didn't show, so kind of stuck for the moment as i need to get that welded in, then the side floor, then i can primer and underseal the wheelarches and underside.. then paint the underneath before it goes back on the orginal chassis. so I pulled the old propshaft brake shoes, they were in very good shape, cleaned out the drum, painted the drum and put the new shoes in. i'll bet that is fiddly doing it from underneath

also stuck on the chassis as the springs still havn't turned up so i can't do much else in pulling the suspension out to finish prepping the chassis for the body.

The wife is away on a course tonight so went over the slam panel with compound in the kitchen after its frsh paint today.

Starting to freak out a bit now as there's a lot to do to get them both squared off before heading overseas, though no start date confirmed..

Springs arrived. However, i had to double check. Ordered the original springs. the fronts have a blue stripe and the rear has a red and white stripe (which is what is on the rear at the moment). Supplier confirmed that these *are* the stock springs and not lifted springs... Also the clutch bearing is missing from the order.

Also the rear wheel arch arrived today.. wrong one.. supplier showed 2 door ordered and picked but a 4 door one was sent. Got to work on the chassis, pulled both radius arms, stripped, painted, new springs in, axle painted new bolts for the gearbox mounts in, gearbox mount brackets stripped and painted, spring base plates stripped and repainted. most of the day seems to have been spent chasing up incorrectly dispatched orders..

F*ckwits.

So, the replacement wheelarch arrived today. wrong one again.. for a 4 door.. i now have a collection of them.

With the springs, i got on the company i purchased them from the other day. was assured that these were the correct ones. still not convinced.. so took a drive to Keith Gott today and double checked with them. they are the wrong ones.. the correct ones due to turn up on monday, so that's another day waiting in for a delivery. meanwhile still can't get anywhere with the bodyshell as the wheel arch is holding it up. got all the rear suspeansion done, with the wrong springs, so changing those out tomorrow for the old ones, as the wrong new ones need to go back. started on the fron end of the chassis, went to take the steering box off, top two bolts came undone, bottom two sheared off and the effing thing is stuck fast.. also have swiss cheese on the front terminating end of the chassis underneath.. more welding. undid the steering rod ball joint and bent my ball joint splitter in the process. by the time correct orders show up it will be a week lost that i dont have.

why the eff did i start this !!

Because it will be a hell of a glow when they are all reassembled and back in their prime on your drive. Failing that it'll be one hell of a glow as the match follows ...

got the steering box off yesterday took a bit of hammering an old bolt through the chassis mount holes to get it to shift.. not brute force and ignorance.. well some ignorance, but some firm smacks with release oil.

welded up more rust damage on the chassis front.. i'm starting to get the hang of welding..

Rusty section cut out.

Welded in and flushing down the welds.

smacked the chassis front with a hammer a few times to see how strong it was.. or wasnt..

that's all cut out and welded in now.. was too dark to take pictures when i finished.

Started polishing up the exhaust headers for Ant as well.. left side 50% done.

More ballsing around today.. wrong bolts for delivered yet again ! Got the front radius arm bushes on the Suffix A done. I freaking hate doing the front radius arm bushes. got the new bolt in fro the rest of the chassis bits... only now need to replace the front shocks and springs and the chassis is pretty much done.for the moment (aside from the track rod ball joints) started cleaning the gearbox off just before it got dark.

got the original fuse box mounted back in its rightful place.

In the meantime.. i just snagged off flea-bay a c1970 Workshop owners workshop manual in the red binder and a 1970-ish (2 door) owners handbook both in really good condition.

Plan tomorrow is get the right bolts in hand.. change the springs and shocks on the front and weld in the rear wheelarch and load space side floor and seam seal it all

Update.

Last week got the left side wheel arch welded in along with the side floor, and the rear front wheel arch extension.. all seams seam sealed.

Then masked off the underside, sprayed white paint-over underseal in the front wheel arches, under the sills, through to the rear wheelarches.. and then went over with masai red..

The gearbox is now back on the chassis too, along with the rear propshaft. Waiting for some bits to arrive,, along with ordering the piston for Saint V8, ordered new steering ball joints, new track rod arm along with a few more items.. awaiting delivery..

so..

started on the swiss cheese sills on the CSK... cutting out the drivers side inner and outer sill ..

New sill in, with new body mounts and bushes..

Loss of light stopped play. Now the sill is in. have to sort out the A and B pillars.

I also noticed on the CSK right up high in the footwell the bulkhead has some corrosion in it, i'll deal with that from the back side when the wheel arch is cut out.

Enjoying the read so far! :D
Good to see it's being enjoyed !!

Got the driver's side mostly cut out today. however, the rear sill body mount bolt is corroded into the chassis. i'll have to get some heat on it tomorrow as bad light stopped play again.

in the meantime got a dispatch notice on the Pistons, they are on the way for Saint V8
