Hi all,

Noticed recently after playing around with the settings that when you increase or decrease the SW level in the headunit there is absolutely no difference in the audio levels.

Before I go back there and check connections and what not, is there any pre-advice on things to look for or even if it's a known issue?

Does it have a sub woofer? is it a HSE or an SE? Yours is a 4.0 isnt it?

Mine is behind the CD changer behind the large left hand cover?

I have had similar problems with mine in the past, the CD changer stopped working, while I was cleaning and repairing the two white blocks behind the passenger side kick panel because of broken pins and the such all of a sudden the CD changer started to work again and the subwoofer fired back up into life, so that could be worth a look.

It's a HSE. I have seen the large black box above the cdplayer behind the panel but haven't done anything with it or been at it, as it were. CD Player works fine...usually. Sometimes it does flake out and comes up with Check CD and I have to eject and reinsert the cassette for it to work again.

Yeah that big chap is the sub, it seems that they blow from time to time, friend of mine had to replace his as it died.

Just checking RE the spec as some didnt have subs!

And sometimes moisture and time kills the speaker foam so the sub farts and it gets unplugged rather than replaced.

if the foam has lifted from the speaker frame, get some speaker foam glue and re seal.

Word of advice, the sub drivers are attached from the back not the speaker frame screws if you try and lift the driver out without separating the cabinet you will destroy the cone. and getting a replacement cone and coil is near impossible

To be honest, I'm a bit tempted to replace all the speakers anyway - I think previous owner(s) have been listening to music full blast a lot as a few are starting to buzz a bit.

My resident troll will love that ^

So, just to close this off, finally got around to checking this. It does indeed work, it's just not very noticeable. The bass does seem to increase if you really pay attention but there is no deep increase.

Decides to live with it for now!

Mine was terrible.tape deck no cd changer or sub. And since im a chav. a sony explod unit and a 15in sub soon helped
