Hello there.

I've registered for the forum, as I know my hubby goes on here loads! However, as I write this he is in fact stuck with our Defender 90 in a field full of mud, unable to get himself and our Patterdale free.

Whats the best thing to do if the local farmer can't pull him out...? He has no winch or anchor.

I guess, as a mega p*ssed off wife - I need some advice??

Thanks

Hi Emma

:welcome2: to landyzone

What area of the world is he stuck in? I'm gonna move this thread to general chat as it'll get a better response there.

where abouts are you? i'm sure a farmer with a tractor could get him out... was he supposed to be on the field? if not i wouldn't tell the farmer as you may not get your defender back

photos will help get people interested ;)

what's yer hubbys username on here Emma? Just so we know who to rib once he's out.;):p

Thanks for all your posts....he rang to say he had got it out. This was after 3 hours digging!!!!

He doesn't know i've posted on here as quite rightly so, he needs the **** taking out of him by you guys. The only thing I need to do is buy one of my own and teach him a lesson. I will find out his user ID and post it if I can.

Thank you.

It was me.. thanks for such quick replies all-Ems just about forgiven me but it did take 2 hours of foot rubbing!:(

Been over this track dozens of times but like a knob i thought id try it in yesterdays torrential downpour! Local farm lad wouldnt risk his new Mccormack as he thought that would get stuck too!

After couple of hours wedging bricks and stones under the tyres and digging with my handy rabbiting shovel i got Betsy free!

Never going out on my own again-lesson learned!

:DGlad you recovered your vehicle and your relationship.Sad the farmer unhelpful, either hes a total wimp or McCormick are ****e,my4wd Massey would go places aUnimog would only dream of.As previously discussed on here a Tirfor winch or similar is agreat standby for the solo off roader.

Nothing wrong with McCormack except that they're rarely seen in the UK. I guess if the farmer looked at it and didn't want to take the tractor down that path, its fair enough and for entirely justifiable reasons. If he gets the tractor stuck and its the biggest on the farm, how does he get out? And he might need it on a day-to-day basis too!!! Also if he's looked at the land and decided its too wet....he'll be staying off that area, since driving over wet ground in heavy machinery is the #1 cause of soil compaction.

Glad you eventually got it out - what's the location of the green lane?

Do you mean the old US built McCormack or the newer ones built (I think)by aconsortium of fiat ford and new holland.Q uite a few of them around here as they were dirt cheap at one time.Your point about compaction is valid but more of an isue in the fields than on a track.Still surprised if atractor balked by ground LR woul attempt! All the best
