or find a top hatted V8 and drive it around for 4 years with no bother (oh, I did that)

And again depends on personal usage circumstances for fuel. I put more fuel in my 2.2 BMW couple than in the 4.6 V8 (non lpg).

Test drive the diesel too. I saw one appear at a local garage last week, sticker price £5500. Was going to look at it but yesterday sold, bummer. Must have been tidy for that money.

Saw that one regularly garage just up the road from me 01 plate bordeaux looked really nice but would have had to been low miles for that kind of cash.

I swapped from a diesel freelander into a 4.6 and where £20 of diesel got me £30 of petrol gets me... and I get the soundtrack too.

You saw it too? Sounds like we live quite close

I have noted a couple of 99 models with Turner Engineering engines installed. Does anyone have experience with them and does that seem like a godsend given the original engines liner issue?

Searching for vehicles with the top had mod is pretty tricky. Is it true that the liners only slip if the engine is allowed to overheat?

Finally, are there any P38 clubs? or owner gatherings around surrey/South East? Usually when I buy a car I like to have a little look around a few and get honest impressions and advise from owners without dealers/sellers getting irritated. I don't know anyone with a P38.

I hope you get free fuel if you go down the V8 route! Or have an LPG kit handy! If you're going to go V8, why not go the whole hog and get the 4.6?

More toys = more things to go wrong. How much time do you need away from the wife and kids?

can i get two please, just to make sure.:D:D:D

Turner's have a good reputation for their top hat engines.
The liners can slip if it overheats but also can be caused by cracked or porous blocks, crap build tolerances also don't help as the cylinder wall is already very close to waterways. However, the liner slip is not as prevalent as some on here would have you believe but anyone running a V8 should be prepared for it.

Looks tidy & a proper bargain by the sounds of it.

Single 1 DIN 7 Inch Android 4.0 Car DVD Player Stereo Radio GPS WiFi 3G Ipod FM | eBay

Thats the one I bought.

Its in no way plug and play as in nothing is when it comes to the P38

There is plenty of info regarding putting in new head units.
The power, switched power and earth where all in the same place for the ISO plug as where the front door speakers...... as far as going to the amp in the boot.
I used another 4 unused wires that ran to the amp for the rear speakers and then in the boot I cut the amp plug off and connected the wires from the head unit end to the respective wires for each door with the sub and mid range.

As for the steering controls, the radio has a number of input wires but I found by using just one wire the radio is able to detect the resistance values from the wheel and then you can set each button to its function.

Took a couple of hours, but now have music again!!
