Its still not right. Ffs this is getting beyond a joke now.

There is a definate vibration when the engine is revved, I think it'll still be there at idle too if I adjust it back a bit.

Now I have a rythmical noise like a cash machine makes as its counting your money, which I think might be from the vac pump but not certain.

It also feels flat now when I put my foot down, the turbo spins up and it does have power but doesn't feel as lively as it did before changing the lift pump and vac pump.

I just don't understand, it really is ****ing me off now. It pulls really clean and smoothly, it makes no sense!
 
So after changing the stuff above it did improve, but now its back to how it was before. The vibration is worse at startup but its there throughout the whole trip. Whats confusing is it doesn't always do it. Some journeys it's fine and smooth but these are getting less and less.

Could it be something in the fuel pump thats sticking?

Also, on the fuel pump where the throttle cable attaches, theres another lever/arm with a spring attached to the throttle arm that moves a short amount between two adjustable stops. Whats it do?
 
My money is still on a problem with the clutch. The gear shaft may be ok but I reckon the clutch pressure plate is a fraction out handle the creaking.

I had ruled out clutch related problems as the culpret because I managed to make it stop when I changed the lift and vac pumps and injector pipes.

I'll change the fuel pump diaphram today and see if that helps
 
I'm wonderring whether the settings of the pump might be slightly off because it had EGR on it originally. I know it shouldn't make any difference but I'll compare the adjustments to my other pump and see

Is it easy to change the FIP diaphragm? I don't think you have to make any adjustments when you remove the EGR valve.
 
Yeah 4 screws and its out.

I don't think you need to adjust it either, but I'll check anyway. It feels like its got a missfire

Did you check each piston height when the head was off?
Have you tried one of them cheap stethoscopes?
I had odd rattle that only really made an appearance on the overrun, stethoscope suggested issue was number 3 cyl, in fact it was valve lash cap broke on number 4 exhaust.
I assume you reset all valve clearances when refitting the head?
Have heard of issues with the tappet guides on 300 making weird noises.

Cant see boost rubber making any difference to the noise at idle as basically it doesnt do anything at idle.
 
It doesn't really make a noise, but shakes the whole vehicle. I had a look at the diaphram, the dot was at the 7 oclock possition when looking leaning over the drivers wing. On my other engine it was a the 3 oclock, so I've turned it to there just to see what happens.

I didn't measure piston height, but have done valve clearances a couple of times making no difference.

What is this for? (The part the end of the screwdrives touching) My old pump doesn't have it.
 
Here the picture, what is the arm for that the screwdriver is pointing at? It moves between two adjustable stops, but doesn't apear to do anything.

I put a new fuel filter on which seemed to help a bit, but after a couple of days its back to how it was before. I'm wonderring now whether theres a leak in the fuel system somewhere and its drawing in air.

Can anyone tell me the hose fitting size/type require to replace the fuel lines. I'll do them all while I'm at it.
