Hi all, am going to throw this post up as i trawl the forum for an answer.
I have a 2002 4.6 petrol vogue.
The stereo which is all original has recently stopped playing through the speakers, and only plays through the subwoofer, i haven't had any battery issues, i checked all the connectors at the back of the stereo which are fine. I've tried it with the cd changer and its just the same.

This probably isn't a range rover issue, but there seems to be that many niggles, someones probably come across this before.

Any suggestions before i call an auto electrician out would be great.

everything goes threw the dsp amp if thats gone faulty junk the factory unit for all new an auto electrion aint gonna help on one of these

Quick update, took the dsp amp out as seen on a few posts they can get wet and go rusty. mine looks fine as in no rust and connectors were in good shape, cleaned them anyway, plugged it all back in but the same, its just playing out of the amp.
So i'm assuming the whole thing has just had enough, again any suggestions before money is spent are always appreciated.

As Dave said it's the DSP. They are like rocking horse poo to find and if you do find one will not be cheap even for used. New not available anymore. Going all new even more expensive. If the RR is a keeper then go new.

The DSP amp is the weak point it is much better to just junk the standard head unit and amp the net is full of things to try and other people who have come to the same conclusion, my amp is still working just about...... But when it dies completely its new ice time for me

I have the same issue with my system and have stripped it all out cleaned checked the connections and re installed to no avail. As I only use the beast for a few months a year it wasn't worth the astronomical price to replace the system, However on occasion going down the road the system will fire into life and work just fine for a few mins, Hours and sometimes days and then die again except for the sub, so mine maybe something loose in the amp but again not worth the exploration fee. but understand the frustration. I haven't yet found a way to make the system play without the amp by just changing the head it seems as its RR its all or nothing and dig deep in the pocket, but that's all part of the fun of having such a great piece of transport.

gunner, that sounds like it is dry joints in the amp. if you feel inclined, having an electronics specialist, go over it for you would save it.

There's no dragons or black magic in the ICE system..personally, I think the repair of the amp is not out of the realms of capability for biketeacherdave.

Thanks Adam for the vote of confidence, I'm happy to strip it down for a look see if your prepared to post it to me I have found common dry joints on the DSP amp circuit board iv got x2 dead units here plus my own. Many hours of work led me to conclude its better to just replace the whole system as many others have done before us. The main issue is the lack of or should I say none existant basic back up support a circuit diagram would do for 99% of retail of faults.

I suspect your problem is dry joints on the main plug on the board its simple to strip down and do if you can solder or find some one who can.....

Cheers Adam, I have a month or two now before I head back to work so I may just strip it out again and commandeer the kitchen table and have an internal nosey. if I bugger it up it cant get any more broke.
Cheers biketeacherdave I would take you up on the offer but its along way to post from where I am and only half my stuff ever gets to me when I get things sent over. if I do get around to it i'll keep you posted.
