Any of you guys drive off road without your steering damper, I just bashed mine again and although it was just a dent in the tube, it stopped the piston moving and I had a cnut of a time getting out of a forest I was in with only partial steering. Just fitted it aswel, foook

Its not like I am belting through or fookal either, I must have just grazed a rock or a tree stump or something, couple of big ditches I went through did it I think.

Got a steering guard which protects the front bits but aparently fokal for the rear is available, The last time I bent one it was no problem but this time it nearly got me in hot soup, almost impossible driving around trees with fokal lock, must have done a trillion shunts, phew!!
 
change it to a Defender arrangement, then it'll be protected by the steering guard.

Need to do something, at this rate it's kind of impractical going off road.

I'll have a look and see if I can get any photo's of the setup, is it a weld job or just bolt on the fender bits?

You'll need a defender drag link end. The bracket at the other end of the damper will need to be fabricated and welded on.

Thanks for that, going out tomorrow into the weeds again will see what it feels like with no damper, I know its murder at speed on the road without one, but for all I use it for now it might not be worth it.

The farmers around here wont give you nothing, even if you offer to buy em, so its like a fokin sas mission trying to cut my way into these fallen trees without the fokirs catching me, enough for about two years so there is, and an easier way in but I would get spotted, so I'm cutting and bridging in through a kind of swampy bit and its fokin murder. Broke another indicator lense and the rear light on the bumper, and got the roof rack caught up big style in a tree. Guess its a set of fabricated light guards it needs.

Coming back loaded is even worse, kept getting lost, fokin trees are all the same and I have not laid down a track yet.

Fink theres a bit of the irish gentleman in me.
 
Hmm.. nice.. so you're trespassing and stealing.. maybe there's a reason they dont want you to have the wood. If it were me I'd follow you in with a tractor and a few mates and then dig a fecking great ditch around yer landy and let it rot.. oh then I'd follow you home and trespass on your front garden with a muck spreader

Your right I shouldnt, but its fallen trees and I'm not felling the farmers livelyhood, and I am risking it a bit but he doesnt go there and neither does his animals or anybody for that matter. No mans land!!, and there are loads of trees down, some rotted and wasted but some suitable for burning.

Its really difficult to get to tho, having to lay down logs at some bits to get through, waffle boards, and picking up damage to my landy, and I have a narrow window of weather, once it gets too wet I'm fooked.

Last year I went across some moors to get a tree fallen, the ground was like driving on toast and expected to go through at some point but used pallets to get across real bad bits and kept changing my path, but I got stuck real bad a few times and had to dig it out, jack it and winch, and it's so much work getting back out that I had to go home on more than one occasion, everything covered in mud, even the waffle boards gave up at one point and had to drag them out with a strap, weigh a ton when full of mud so they do.

The crazy thing about it is that the farmer loses sheep on these fallen trees they get caught in them and die, the one on the moors had several sheep which had perished.

I see where you are coming from, but its rotting wood and in many ways it should be removed because as I stated it harms beasts.

Strange mentality farmers have let it rot, killing their beasts rather than sell me it.

But I see your point and I'm not too happy about what I'm doing, last year I had no problem with my conscience because there were several sheep laying around it dead, this year I'm chancing my hand a bit.
 
No man's land.... like yer front garden, I guess no one owns that...sorry david.. just that it rattles my cage a bit. I re-mortgaged so I could but a small bit of land with some fishing rights... still got 15 years to pay on it.. so you can imagine what its like when I plan an afternoon out only to find a family having a picnic and their dogs charging up and down the river.. doesn't happen often but when it does the people dont really seem worry ..cos they cant be seen from the road and it's just the 'countyside' ...anyways I'm off me soapbox now... :)
 
just had another thought.. if you have any of your livestock die then theres a cost involved in getting rid of the carcuss.. could be the farmer's using that quiet, out the way bit to let nature take care of his dead stock

You have a very valid point, I'm wrong, and I'm gona get caught probably.

In relation to the picnic in the countryside, I think that people have to be responsible and that we should encourage people to use it, might change the mentality of gangs and hanging about streets. But in relation to your special bit of land, they have to respect that aswel.

I think any animals that get in there would be alive and walking in, getting in with a vehicle is fairly challanging, and leaving dead animals to rot is bad practice.

If the farmer catches me however I imagine that the quiet out of the way place might be my final resting place.
 
While we farmers don't take kindly to trespassers we are not in the habit of shooting them or otherwise disposing of them ....................... well not intentionally anyway:D

As for rotting wood going to waste what tosh rotting wood is part of natures cycle it provides a home for and feeds countless species of creatures and fungi and it returns nutrients to the soil for new growth and I find it very unlikely that sheep would get tangled up in fallen trees.

And besides that what you are doing is out and out theft, how would you like it if I came and helped myself to stuff from your garden.
 
so do we know where in scotland david451 lives? cos while he's off pikeying wood off the farmer we could pop round and pikey the stuff out his front room.. it's not like he's using it or anything is it..

As long as my wife is in yur list is aint a problem, but dunt take mah phooter or ah wunt be able to post anymore of the rubbish i send in, or mah dogs for that matter.

I dont entirely understand why on one hand you want creatures on your land but on the other you use pesticides to kill them.

Its a swamp and no use for anything, the farmer has fenced it off to prevent animals getting in because they would perish.

And sheep do get caught in them, the one I cut up last year had killed at least 4 of the stupid fookers.

Its so fokin tempting they never go there, the land is used for fokal, and all the trees that have fallen over the years are in various stages of rot, but its theft and probably malicious damage aswel. But farmers are fokin mad I would pay for them but the guy is totally unaproachable.
 
it's amazing how fold justify to themselves the theft from other peoples land. The wood does not belong to David yet he feels he is doing some good by removing it. perhaps the fence is not there to prevent animals getting in, but more to keep him and others of his kind out.
gets us all a bad name.

Probably runs red derv 'found' in an abandoned tank in a deserted yard with fence around it to stop kids getting tangled up in the tractors.
