20 years ago, after the 'car falling on me' incident, i bought a set of axle stands..... and i vowed that i would strive , save my pennies, build a garage large enough to fit a proper hoist in etc etc....

Well guess what guys, ......... my axle stands need a respray and i'm still borrowing driveways .:hysterically_laughi
I promised myself a garage with a pit 55 years ago after I dropped a gearbox on my chest:eek: Three years ago I got one and now also have a transmission jack in it:D Everything comes to those who wait:rolleyes:

Indeed,

Be careful, i wouldn.t fancy leaving my LPG car over a pit..?

Ah, my pit is open at one end as the barn is on a steep slope. I wouldn't go anywhere near an LPG'd vehicle:)

Well, my name isn't 'Carnegie', Lpg is cheap and as i write this i have had an idea about fitting a stove for her indoors when we are outdoors.:scratching_chin:

mmmm, chips ;)

I know what your thinking, Hot chip fat, but i have a cunning plan, if i install the stove so her indoors is in a direct line BETWEEN me and the fat, well i'd be ok at least, im not daft you know:crazy_driver:

Diesel is even cheaper over here when consumption is taken into account:)

Diesel,,,, hate the stuff.:(
Just completed one rocker gasket,(Bank 1-4 ) not quite as easy as i imagined. You have to disconnect injectors wiring box and tie back.
Hard work getting on top of engine to work on it because it is still too high for some jobs even on lowest suspension setting, and i am not a short ass, important note for anyone doing these gaskets, use a gasket sealant to stick the gasket to the cover, even although it is pressed into a groove, it will fall out at the rear because space is limited and the half moon sections will catch on rocker studs,,,, another important thing, buy new rubber washer/grohmets for fixing bolts, they go hard and i can see mine were leaking here also, but i just removed, cleaned and coated with gasket sealant so it should be fine. The rocker gaskets were absolutlely shot, very brittle with lot of cracks in it,,, so i'm glad i have done this,,,
The other side (Bank 5-8) may be even trickier as my lpg vapouriser needs removong along with other stuff. Also, i've got another misfire

Might be an idea to check your PCV valve and pipework.

A dicky PCV can cause oil leaks from rocker covers and also lumpy idle issues due to induction air leaks.

As for working on the engine, I am 6'3" And I can struggle.

You can sit/kneel on the slam panel with a mat for comfort, very sturdy and surprisingly comfortable. :D

I did fit a new PCV and the little hoses six month ago, another fiddly job carried out with a mirror....

Yes, i hover around slam panel and r/h rocker cover for my right knee, i've also got a 1200x400mm foam mat for comfort. (a harness and skyhooks would be great)

I reckon if i had detatchable hands it would be ace, imagine a toolbox with different sized hands,, LOL Freaky :screaming_bug_eye_f
