At that price there will be a tin in the post real soon, I recon if the AquaSteel works as it should then over paint with this then MOTIP stone chip and Dinitrol over the top and we should be golden until I retire.
Went out to my box of painting gear yest to find electrox on everything! Can was upside down and leaked. Luckily it wasn't full but still had a good tenner worth in!
I have a new objective for the landy too. I'm not very well travelled. Yes I've done Thailand, America etc but very little Europe away from your typical sun holidays. I've always wanted to visit the French Riviera and also Normandy etc as always had interest in world war.
My plan is, to take it on a road trip, through France and to the French Riviera. Make some memories with my mate (would not appeal to Mrs!) And use the landrover to explore. Perhaps it won't be far off the beaten track but would definitely be an adventure for me!! Maybe I'll learn French on the commute lol

You will enjoy Normandy. The main expense is the crossing.
Just make sure you leave enough time between places so your not driving all the time.

Had a stare off with it earlier and also thought about 're doing my window surround as one piece of butt welding rather than patching. The angle I picked up at the weekend is perfect for the job. It's starting to look cleaner because there's less off it.

Road trips are cool, I did loads in Europe when I lived there, I did numerous road books with the Belgian Land Rover owners club, Land Rover owners club Holland and Dutch All Terrain Events, did the Belgian national Land Rover rally in the Ardennes too, it was a real hoot and great like minded company too
If you can do a bit of Dutch or German then use the forums there to find national events going on and make a long weekend of it and make new friends and see a ton of different scenery.
I was aiming for autumn but think I have you much to do! Would love to do that, especially ardennes! Depending on Merc verdict tomorrow I may end up spending what's in my money pot too. Week off in Sept I think i can complete most welding and panel work however I will need to do mechanical before mot worthy. That may include bushes etc and will definitely include cambelt and big service plus brakes

Ironic but my mercs the leaking one lol
went to weld some bits in last night and realised gas was empty. now have another full bottle in the car. Did myself a little sketch to plan my future interior build on. Rough as but will help me gain perspective of space and where I want what. I'm thinking of cross beams across roof supports with boxing bag style shackles at either end to support a hammock
the trick is in the preparation....... or at least I hope it is, as I am doing lots of prep and not much else
I'll put a bit of angle between the window bar and the boot. That will brace it up a touch. The black stuff everywhere is a pu sealant I found in screwfix. Stays flexible, silicone free and sticks like sh#t to a blanket. I have been etch priming then sealing as soon as my welds are done now due to vehicle being outside
PU as seal sealer........ anyone else use that?
Not sure. I figured it would be a good combo with epoxy mastic topped over. A lot of paints I.e. hammerite go very brittle, fracture and flake. Epoxy is solid yet keeps it's flex. This landy seam sealer is hard and chips off in some places. I thought puraflex was a good shout.
In Belgium we used to have a sealant called Tec7, brilliant stuff, I used to use it for seam sealing post welding and it worked brilliantly.
Been looking at a few sealants these last few days for when I rip out the back of the Rusty one but can't find anything I like so probably gonna order up some Tiger Seal as it has a proven track record with a lot of rebuilds on various forums.
This is it Mate. I hate to say it but I am on a budget. This is very similar to tiger and rated in the trade. It looks so messy how ive applied it but i just wanted to suffocate or water proof any joint. I even stuck some in the standard chassis corners.
Why did you seem to have more money as a kid but got paid less? Probably cos we can't double shift anymore on away work haha. Merc turned out to be an issue with bottom corner windscreen seal. Not sure how to approach that. Was in all day and free of charge diagnosis. The garage where spot on. These things happen don't they.
It hasn't scuppered my plans. I am light for funds after Mrs birthday but to be honest I only need to buy consumables until my week off. If I hit target it will be boot in w/c 17/9. Thinking out loud I only need to do chassis repairs and not the quarter, outer arch or pillar base on drivers side prior to putting boot floor in. I need to do chassis first for access purposes.
