Hi guys

I have an intermittent starting issue with my freelander 1td4.
When the weather is cold the glow plug light comes on, on the dash and it starts fine on warm days like it us now when I go to start in in the morning or in the afternoon when I have finished work the glow plug does not come on and it takes a few attempts to start it and fires up with a nice blue cloud of unburnt fuel.
Other than that it runs as sweet as a nut.
Anyone got any ideas.

Cheers
Neil

Glow plug light only comes on when cold outside, don't know if the glow plugs get any power in warm days to assist starting though.

Slow starting when warm can often be put down to leaking seals on the HP pressure regulator.

Cheers nodge, where do I find the pressure regulator so I'll have a look
The pressure regulator is on the end of the HP fuel pump. It's best accessed by removing the intake manifold first.
The first picture is for location identification on the engine, it's directly above the oil filter.
The second picture is a close up of the HP pump with the regulator on the end of it.
