landy turns over first thing in the morning very sluggish, if i bump it and run it for about 20 mins it will start on the button for the rest of the day, have checked cleaned and tightened all earth straps and had a look at the starter motor today, the first nut holding the live feed on the starter was loose, so was the second nut with a spring going into the starter itself. tightened these back up and discovered a rip in the live feed, as a temp measure wound loads of insulating tape round it , put everything back together and now all i get is a CLICK. ANY ADVICE MUCH APPRECIATED

Did you clean all your contacts?, best to clean em all up before you tighten everything up. Had the same problem myself.

over tightening the main supply lead can **** the contact up it pulls the back of the post away from the motor

She's been a bloody pain today mate. Called a Doc out this afternoon cos she said she couldn't go to the loo. Anyway I sat with her for 3 feckin hours today mate and by this time the Doc still hadn't shown (the twot). In a nutshell she decided to cancel the Doc and told me "You'd best go home son, before you get into trouble with Chris (the ayathollah)". The Ayathollah is ready for jihad chap and I'm fecked off.
Thanks for asking YD.

makes sense as when the nuts were loose i was turning the motor over, will try and slacken them off and try again, one thing though, local chap ,mentioned that when the engine was warm,i.e. after i had bumped it, the reason she started on the button COULD be that the brushes are worn . when they heat up and expanded thats the reason, makes sense i think?
