Crazier than a box of frogs on acid
Hello.
Hoping someone may shed some light on this or maybe give me some ideas to go on.
My 95 300tdi disco is sometimes struggling to start after leaving it stood for a day. Definitely not electrical as the battery spins it over like it always has.
I'm thinking it may be a fuel problem.
When I first flick the key it tries to splutter into life but quickly dies again as if no fuel. Then need to floor the throttle whilst turning it over for 10-15 seconds before it finally fires into life. Will then run and start all day long like nothing has every happened.
Come the next morning, again it struggles to start.
I first had this problem just before Xmas when I rebuilt the front axle and the front end was higher than the rear on axle stands for 2 days and since has got progressively more frequent.
Timing belt was changed about 2 months ago so also wondering if the timing could be ever so slightly out?
But it's been fine and tension and timing marks were checked and rechecked half a dozen times before I put it all back together.
So could it be timing? Or maybe a fuel related problem?
Maybe have an air leak in a fuel line? Or could my lift pump be on its way out? Or anything else I can check) have a look at?
Apologies for this being a bit long winded just trying to give as much info as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
Robb
