"oooh, fat titties" - i just****ed myself laughing. **wipes tear from eye**

Oh, and BTW - no, I haven't done a THING on Smidge tonight - been in Brum all day in a sodding team meeting until 4.30. Got in, sat down, logged on....now I can't be fooked to get up :pop2:

Had a busy evening :)

I've got most of what I need now, inc. my primer and paint. Parts Porn...:D

Got the front end back on, so I can prime it somewhere sensible that doesn't involve hanging, or walking into it...And also primed up the seatbox, backrest and bulkhead - no pics cos my memory card is borked.

The primer goes on really nice, BTW I got it from HERE they've got a good range of enamels, too.

Talking of Borked, finally sorted that bodged Bias valve mount, and made my own out of some scrap bar. Here it is before Paint and prettyness.

Filled the block up with nice clean oil, but noticed a puddle under him tonight, so the Rear EndSeal most be ferked, too. That'll be a job to do once everything else is taken care of. I'm not taking the bloody gearbox out at this point in the build - even though it makes good sense to do it.

yeah looking good and coming along nicely.... no work from me for last 3 days (except for acquiring a no work need solid bulkhead - with extras on it). my paint arrived over the weekend so will collect tomorrow and store ready for next weekend when i am back from my golfing trip.... one question on colours,,,,,,,,, how would i find out the colour that it origionally was back in 1974 when made.... its grey now and the mot's back in 2004 say cream.....? do you think this warrants a new thread??

Looking good mate! :) Great colour. Are you keeping it a hardtop then?

Yeah, after much debate over tea and interweb searches, i decided I wasn't sure about it. I go laneing a lot, and we like to carry as much kit as possible, so canvas wasn't really a sensible idea - security, water etc.

My good pal decided he didn't want my safari afterall, and seeing as Perry had offered a roof, sides and rear door for £50 it seemed a good idea to still take it off his hands.

It's all the boring stuff to do now.... priming, rubbing back, topcoat, rubbing back....2nd coat....polish blah blah blah.
Bolting stuff back on, replacing lights and markers, door seals, inside trim etc.

Managed to do a lot of the little stuff tonight - steering arms, bolted the pass wing back on, tidied the ****HOLE that is my garage :D nipped up a few bolts here and there, filled the lump with aqua.

***yawn** Bored now :D I'll feel better once Smidge is all one colour and relativley smooth all over :)

I'd do a search on here 1st before you get flamed for not doing it :D :D :D
Can ya not scrape back and try to find the base colour? Most people when the paint a series or defender just do the easy to reach areas, so if ya look behind the driver or pass seats where the seatbelts anchor, up in the side panel cavity is a good place to spot it with minimal hassle....... Mine was blue ;)

will do a search - didnt think just took the lazy option lol
well i have been sanding down all the parts i take off right back down to bare metal, and guess what - i dont think i have found identical base coats, i have green, blue, grey, and a redish colour......
our lass is thinking a creamy colour but i am not convinced (ordered some rosso red while she wasnt watching lol

NATO green all the way! But I am a bit bias :) Mine has been a total of 6 colours in its time, all of them are visible on one part or another of the car!

our lass wants this colour, it dont look too bad when clean and polished but what about when dirty??????
green i think looks too much like a farm vehicle (or military depending on shade)
thinking i might compromise with her indoors and lower half red, top limestone with black trim etc.....
