You can bevel all four edges of the lining, that may work, or just try another make of shoe, Mintex used to be the ones, then they went crap and people started to reckon Britpart of all things were okay, think thats what I have on mine.
What year is the car? some early ones had brake shoe steady posts to keep the shoe dead square with the drum face.

no steady posts on mine its a swb 1974 series 3, might try taking them off and see if anything looks like its scraping, hard braking no noise but gentle braking its quite annoying.
Sounds like the file trick might work, it is all to do with the lining hardness, hard last for ages but are noisy, soft are the opposite.

Little update, took the drums off and checked everything, one of the top springs was a bit bent and rubbing on the hub, probably did that somehow when fitting it, straightened that, re adjusted, bled, went for a drive the odd squeal but no where near as bad, stopped to fill up ready for brooklands tomorrow and not paying attention over filled a bit that's when I found out the clamp wasn't on the breather pipe properly, bloke running the service station wasn't happy about the puddle of petrol he had to clean up
