Hi, would like more ground clearance on my disco to stop the axles dragging. however fitting larger tyres causes rubbing problems, If I put lifted spring on i also highten the center of gravity, however it would give me more articulation. Now I'm Waffling. Right I'd like a 2" Lift via springs. what springs and dampers would you recommend i.e. britpart, bearmach ?? and what ones would you stay clear off. what rateing would you recommend for front and rear. I greenlane and pay and play, it's a 7 seater and it's usually full, any help appreciated:confused:
 
just ordered a set of britpart springs and shocks off paddocks, not because they are better than any other make but they are around £50 cheaper than any others i could find on line. i just hope they fit better than most of the other cack that they sell. next job will be to make myself a full set of dislocation cones (they are cheap enough but one of the fabricators at work owes me a couple of favours):D
 
You could raise the car three feet up if you like, but there won't be any more clearance under the axles, will there?


The only way to get axle clearance is larger diameter tyre treads.

thats the next bit of the plan, if i shell out for the springs shocks and tyres in one go i've been told my nads will be nailed to the wall.
wouldn't mine but she only wastes the money on light, heat and food:rolleyes:
 
If all you want is clearance under the axles, forget about springs and dampers.

The ONLY way to do it is taller tyres.

if you get the springs fitted then getting a larger set of wheels on wont give you "rubbing" issues and like charlset sez its not the body work thatll hit first its usually the diffs
 
As I said in my first post I have larger wheels but they rub therefore i need to lift the vechile to stop them from rubbing, if only people read things. I want to know what are the best value springs and dampers to buy. I don't want to waste my money on cheap springs that will sag after a year but also don't see the point in spending out on springs to nearly the value of the disco i also wanted an idea of what rating the should be i.e. not to soft or to hard. If you have any answer much appreciated if you don't then don't reply

Hate to point it out, your first post does not say you have fitted larger wheels. You have used the word 'however' which can be an adverb of degree and conjunction. As a conjunction 'however' usually means 'but'. It can precede or follow its clause or come after the first word or phrase.

CharlesY and others took the time to respond with advice based on the information you provided. So they did read it.

Where's this Disco that's raised 3 feet then ?? This one I gotta see, it would keep my Mrs out of it that's for sure

Well see theres a lot of school kids on here, maybe I'll get a sensible answer to my question tomorrow. when they've all gone back to school.
 
CharlesY answered yo Q - yu dumbarse! - liftin the body wont "stop the axles dragging." - only larger wheels and tyres.
 
Your question was answered by CharlesY in post 8!!! There is only one way to increase ground clearance. You are clearly a cock, with a MAHOOOOOSSIVE overdrive.
 
put some fookin huge spacers on problem sorted.......well fur a bit anyway
