As a Truck Cab owner, what are my options for fitting a decent sound system? Bear in mind the wife wants me to keep the middle seat

Speakers pointing at the floor are not a good start, so I have thought of a component set on top of the dash.

But they are not going to be enough for my liking and no where near enough base. Has anyone out there got any ideas as to how and where I can fit a sub and some decent coaxial speakers?

I have an 8" active subwoofer between passenger seat and bulkhead. The size of the sub is 23,5 x 7 x 35cm. I have two 6" speakers pointing "upwards" between middle seat and bulkhead and two upgraded speakers in the standard position below the dashboard.

It may not be the "correct" way to have awesome sound, but I am pretty pleased with it and there is plenty sound inlcuding bass :)

I have thought of making a shallow box and placing it underneath the middle seat.

Sub in the tool box under drivers seat?
Thought about making a fibreglass roof lining to house head unit and speakers. too many other things going on at the mo to start it:(.

Here are a few pictures.

This "speaker box" isn't perfect but it does the job.

Heres what Ive done. Roof mounted, fits x2 8" Speakers, loud and the quality is good. Also upgraded the dash speakers to better louder ones for slightly more surround sound.

Building a new speaker shelf soon with space for a sub. Amp will be mounted on the back of the bulkhead.

Ha,

Kids and there music. :)

You all need to sell your defenders and get disco's if you want a 'banging sound system' innit!

Its a tin box, your never going to get albert hall acoustics going on in there. :D

I friend of mine cut some squares of ply and wedged them above the seatbelt reels / below the cappings then mounted 5 inch speakers into those. It made good use of otherwise wasted space.

look on ebay, they do slimline sub boxes that fit nicely behind the seats in a pickup, two of them with a nice amp will have the bass sorted, if you look you may also find slim line 6x9 boxes that will sort the mid range, then get some tweeters and mound on the door pilliars, i thinl JBL do some surface mount ones.

hope this helps and gives you some ideas
