so did you check the timing was correct, or did you reset the timing, cause its funny that fitting the engine guard has made it run like a charm?

Think you've gotta read what I said again..... I said no issues from doing the head, but I think it was holding back at tad on motorways so I checked the timing and redone it. I also put back on the engine guard which had been off since doing the work.....

The timing is making it run like a charm not the engine guard:mad:

Burn It !!!!:p

Who are you again? Congrat on the number of posts stating burn it, your parent's must be so proud of what you've become.

As it's Wednesday your probably flush "given it's Giro day" clearly it's gone to your head, bless...

Still going strong, no loss of water, smooth to drive and MPG is up!!

Longest run so far is 240 miles. Temp etc all fine, happy days = touch wood!

Nice to see everythings going well. How many miles have you done in total since the repair work?

I have also done mine lately, changed the oil rail and fitted the PRRT too, just about to fit a new header tank as well. Losing a little bit of water but i think it's through the header. On the whole, very good - about a month and a couple of thousand miles.

I'd say shy to 2k from top of my head, I've got the change recorded in Service History so I can confirm if miles out haha get it!?

I'm not saying it wont happen again, but for now I'm happy with how the car is going and as mentioned the MPG is better which is always a good thing!

Lastest update, no issues.

Having now done many a thousand miles since the work the oil is still at the correct level, I haven't needed to top up the water either.

Having sat in traffic, long journeys etc no signs of overheating. I've checked the air in the water and since the work was carried-out I haven't needed to remove anything as yet.

I hope that if this thread can be used for helping other I stand by the fact replacing all the key parts including the Oil Rail and to only use quality parts.

And don't worry about this crap you take on here about having a Petrol or a Freelander, I couldn't give a flip flop.

To my chum who contacts via private, you've took off this function so I cant reply to your question..... Have a play and I'll reply once you've reset your profile.

You that rooked? Expensive beasts to fix them K-series Freelys:D
Seriously, glad you're all ok & your thread is definitely useful.

Cost wise they're not that bad, if you think about it, it's normally the head everytime, against the TD4 I'm not sure what the common fault is, there seems to be so many to choose from!?

Congratulations Anguslives!

Splendid work. You are like a breath of fresh air blowing away the doom and gloom you have put up with. Many thanks, we could do with more like you.
Well said. Whilst there's the ocasional fault on a Freelander, there's too many on ere knocking em when they int that bad. I blames the tratter boys.

At the end of the day, whatever they say online about the Freelander, none say to your face, most people only ask what they're like to drive in the snow!!

It's funny but I've passed a few Farms over the weekend as went Kayaking up Northumberland and whilst they have Defenders they also have Freelanders, so even Farmers can see the use of a Freelander, after all who wants to drive around all day in a Defender? They have it hard enough already so allow them some comfort...... Bring on the Freelander.

As for which to go for, that will rubble on Diesel trumps Petrol, but not for me, in time I may change my mind but after 19 years of driving it aint happened yet!

I think Mr Ranger could do with hearing about your experience old fruit ;)

I have no comment to make about that haha. I think he's took a bit of stick and gave up with LZ for now......

Well worked out mind, hopefully he sorts it out I've gave him what I had, parts etc and he can get it back on the road soon. After all with a little bit of work the K isn't that bad to work on.

Question for you all.

Well the car is still going fine and runs just the same from when I done the work. Water is fine, Oil is fine, no mixing or overheating.

But what I thought to ask is since I done the work the temprature gauge climbs faster to the settle point which is just below half away. Is this normal after work?

The car has done many miles long and short and isn't overheating I just thought I'd ask.

Nope it's got the correct level of coolant....

The gauge get's to the correct temp level from cold within a mile from starting.
