Question for you all.

Well the car is still going fine and runs just the same from when I done the work. Water is fine, Oil is fine, no mixing or overheating.

But what I thought to ask is since I done the work the temprature gauge climbs faster to the settle point which is just below half away. Is this normal after work?

The car has done many miles long and short and isn't overheating I just thought I'd ask.

How long did you have the vehicle prior to you starting your thread?

As you started your thead in january when it was cold I'm guessing the fact it's now july and getting pretty warm out may have summit to do with it getting to temp quicker.
 
Been away, OK, no air locks checked and double checked. No losses. Got it in the summer last year (August). It doesn't overheat or anything like I said it just climbs up faster than it did???
 
well **** me lightly, it is warmer than when you first started the adventure=faster warm up.

If your worried get a sniff test done
 
Not worried just thought I'd ask the question. It's been like this since the work was done, went through the MOT yesterday and got Digo sheet.... Figures are much better than previous for emms.

Clocked up about 3.5K since the work and no sign of overheating to date, I wondered if others had noticed the temp gets to where it should quicker.

the k-series was always designed for quick warm up times, being on the small heater loop 1st then the large rad loop after stat opens (best I know of is new Fiat panda, warm heater within 16secs)

If you have the heater fan on position 4 and blasting any hot air it will take a good bit longer to warm up on the dash gauge, maybe with the warm weather your have heater off and dial switched to cold???......temp shoots up???

In winter my fan on position 3 or 4 will cause the temp gauge to plummet! Again due to my two drilled holes in the stat ring. The original stat housing was supposed to be 'balanced'..............on a knife edge if you ask me.

I cant remember if you changed the stat to PRT or just kept the OEM. There would even be slight differences in the PRT stats, some PRT open at 82oC, others 88oC. There could also be slight variations in the wax bulbs, or extent the stat opens as the wax expands inside??

A faulty stat would also cause the temp to rocket, my old stat didnt open until 95oC (using the boil in pan method)

Loads of reasons................ again all relative.

Angus for some reason I have just read this thread from your 1st post and it was so good I have read the whole bleedin' lot! What a story ... many congratulations on your successful fix, it was like a book with a happy ending :)
I had a V-reg 1.8 which I remember used to reach temperature before it got off the drive so I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Once again, top thread and top marks from a Tratter boy. ;)
 
Gosh I wanna cry! haha but I'm not gunna!!

NI I know what your saying but it's been like this since I done the work and it was when we had the bad snow and it still went up fast, mind you I'm not worried or anything just thought I'd ask the great public.....

Well the next thing will be sorting the back box, it's not blowing and looks nice and clean what you can see from the back but the MOT man did say it's opened up and may start sometime, and a look and he wasn't kidding, I don't think I will get the gas out for this one plus the prices of the box ain't that bad..... cant find many stainless options at a nice price!
 
Well it's now almost the end of September and the car is still going strong, went through MOT only notes are back tyres are getting low and back box is starting to split on the join but the engine is doing what it should (without issues) so I'm happy.

I have had a look over at a Disco in local showroom and it's nice, high spec for £17K wants to be!! would go for it but it's the wifes turn to trade in first.

I may do one day but I still like my freeby, it still looks good against other sim 4x4 and its good on and off the road for the level I use it at = overall I'm a happy owner.

My missus loves the Hippo too and much as I'd like another 4x4, we really only need a Fiesta sized runaround for local use.

What's the Disco?
 
V6, Auto box, think is HSE or the likes, Sats, Leather, Fridge, the works, nice to look at but a tad over priced me thinks, saying that it's a garage so what you expect.

Will stick with this for now and once she changes her car its my turn again. We try to change every 3 yrs, I guess I was jumping the gun given I've looked 2 yrs early!!

But thats what I'm like, it's not the car....... its me!
 
Lates update, its still going strong!

No issues at all, well apart from the mad man who drove into the front of my car! But its all fixed by the lovely insurance people, all polished and new looking, better than before!!

Engine wise, so pleased I spent a little bit of cash for peace of mind, well worth it!!
