Today had a safety mishap that could happen to anyone, so wanted to share. When cleaning/prep'ing metal work [in this case the Landy chassis] I use Upol's Slow Degreaser; it's very, very effective.
Whist under Landy giving the chassis a final clean, I spilt the degreaser pot onto my right hand...I was wearing twin pairs of nitrile gloves but the degreaser poured inside the gloves. Within seconds my hand was "on fire" with a solvent burn Ripped off gloves and soaked hand in running water...10mins later started to work again.
Now, I use large closed cell 20mm thick foam sheets when working on cars...they're very comfortable when under our jalopies. What I hadn't noted was that the solvent had soaked into the foam sheet...when back under the Landy I received a mammoth hot burning sensation to the lower back and left buttock; F**k it hurt!! This time ran in doors ripped off clothes and cold showered. The solvent had passed through overalls, shorts and pants, and in seconds soaked into the soft lower back/buttock skin
So, pls do work carefully when using industrial grade solvents
I now await the onslaught of burnt arse jokes...
