Lots of painting done and in the process of being done, chassis is
getting there but needs another day on it.

Tailgate looking quite poorly but a new skin will see that looking
like new again :)

Exhaust Y piece cleaned up really well, no holes or weak patches
which was great news.

Manifolds also looking good but have 2 broken studs in one side
that i have to attack, hopefully i can borrow a Bridgeport turret
mill to get them out nicely

Decided to remove the chassis from the body and do a proper job.

After the new body panels have been fitted, rear cross member, sills, inner
front wings & arch's etc the body will come off the chassis and stripped down,
then it's off to be acid stripped and galvanized

Subscribing to this one... great job so far ! If only I could pull mine of the road for this sort of treatment..... Looks like your in the right place to get the work done !
Great motors... every one worth saving. Good job keep it up.

Cheers mate.

Hopefully it wont be long before the bodies off the chassis, we have to get all the new panels in first as the chassis is acting as the jig to hold the body in the right place.

A few pics of the front end

Found a better VHT paint that stays Black :)

Got the broken studs out the manifolds and then re painted with Simonize VHT paint, good for 800 C according
to the tin :)

New rear cross member is fitted and the boot floor is pretty much finished,
when the shells painted the new aluminium floor panel will be riveted in place, obviously
after we start rebuilding it

while the front is off are you going put a performance cam in or is the engine coming out too ?

Once the inner and outer offside sills are replaced the chassis will be dropped off from the body and the engine, box etc then taken off the chassis.

I'm not sure what to do with the engine as it runs very nicely and
compression tests are very good but its done 126,000 miles.

Possibly looking at getting it either rebuilt by John Eales or buy a new engine from him.
