picked up a set of 265 75 16's on steels on ebay for £60 so i slung them on today. Looks a bit better until I can get a set of 35's on it.

reet thats the sodding fuel tank off. Urgh what a horrid job removing a fuel tank when its peeing diesel (well mostly veg oil to be honest) all over you

Found that theres a wee hole in the very bottom of the tank and also the fuel return pipework (metal bit) was split with a big hole in it. Both were not helping mpg!
New fuel tank is in the workshop. Got to wait for the new return pipe to be delivered. Ive ordered a new sender as well as the old one seemed to have a mind of its own.

Right... finally got the new tank in, new fuel sender, return pipework, hoses, also fitted a new lift pump new hoses between filterhead etc and a new filter. Also refurbed an injection pump and fitted that too. Started up and ran an absolute treat so I was very pleased.

Was all working tickerdy boo until i took it on a short run to Kilmarnock it suddenly started getting loads of air in the fuel lines after the lift pump (clear hoses so i could see whats what)

At first i was thinking fuel hoses, managed to find a friendly garage in Loganswell which let me have some tools and 5m of fuel hose so i replaced it all. Seemed to work....

Then it started going wrong again....

This time i just bypassed the lift pump and filter and plumbed the fuel hose directly to the injection pump. Sat merrily at over 70 all the way home.

So home... bastid new lift pump was the culprit. New one fitted and problem cured. Wasnt even a Britpart one! Anyway its all working great now. Off to Devon in it on Sunday to start a new contract. So I shall be commuting from Scotland to Devon every week in the 130 hahahahahah!!!

Fitted an outlander roof console (same as I have in my 110) as it was cheap at £40. Nice to have the extra lights inside for the kids etc and its a bit of extra storage space for all the crap one invariably carries.
Also a metal snorkel has gone on as we had quite a bit of flooding here last winter and dont want it swamped!
Winch is finally hooked up too. Must fit some winch control switches inside the cab rather than relying on the remote.

Ive purchased a canopy for it from darn sarf, and a full length 130 roof rack, Ill pick them up one evening whilst I am down in Devon.

Will be needing some comfy seats me thinketh! Will also be making some side mounted long range fuel tanks for it (130 extended tanks seem rather limited in their suppliers) I have some tree sliders / steps to go on already I have just been a lazy sod and not got around to it.

Will also be fitting air suspension all round. The oem heavy duty set up is back breaking and rattles the vehicle something awful going up and down our lane. Air suspension will help with picking up trailers etc too. Will be making it so its 3" taller than stock so I can fit some 33" tyres.

Also wants the usual cranked rear arms, 3 degree camber swivels, double cardon front propshaft, already have a set of twin shock towers which will accommodate the air bags, all round terrafirma big bore shocks (I am a big fan of these dampers and its what I run on my 110csw)

Not sure if I am going to fit smart car seats all round or a discovery seat conversion. But want something comfy and heated.

Smaller steering wheel on order, I have a set of of Verken Led side repeaters ready to go on which I will do when I get some wider arches on it.
Will also be slipping a puma bonnet on it as the current one is pretty rotten and well.... why not.

'Leccy window conversion and central locking it going on it as well.

I guess I should really fit a bigger intercooler on it, although to be fair it goes well as it is! But itll help, and Ill fit an electric fan to remove the viscous one as I like having the extra room in the engine bay this offers. Twin alternator and extra battery will be wanted too as we are starting to use big inverters off the battery when we go to events so I need some extra juice.

After all that!.... paint.. gloss black...

Well the 800 mile trip to devon and back went well.

managed an average of 27mpg despite cruising back home at Audi driver speeds. Managed a new personal top speed in a defender record as well!
Had a bit of a scare when suddenly it started clattering like crazy and I thought I was going to be going on the back of an AA wagon but after driving for a few miles to the nearest services with my foot on the clutch aka 2 stroke rider style, I discovered it was just one of the disc mud shield mounting tabs had sheared and it was dragging on the disc. Quick bend and silence (ish) returned.

6 hours to get down to Exeter from Lockerbie, 8.5 hours back due to the traffic on a Friday night (my clutch leg was dying!)

Whilst there I picked up an ifor Williams back which has definitely added to its practicality. Ive just removed the fan and shroud as they were knackered anyhoo and so I can do servicing much easier.

Lots of fun on some of the teeny weeny lanes in Bovey Tracey!

What engine is in it? 27mpg sounds pretty nice for something of this caliber.

also how much did it cost out of curiousity

I paid £3K for it for them to end the auction early with a fresh 12month mot (that it shouldn't have had!)

Unfortunately it did lunch itself the other day of course, ive just stripped the timing cover off today.

Mind it snapped my 1mtr breaker bar in doing so....

stupid thing.

Still here is the source of my breakdown woes

:p

Its all fixed, new cambelt on and she started right up. Its knocked the valve clearances as its tapping but ill sort them this weekend.

I didn't drive it to devon this week as I was too scared too ha. In the gyppo wagon (white van) instead.

Will be giving the 130 a fresh oil change, valve clearances etc service before any major trips!

Been a bit busy as im working down in Exeter, and we are just about to open a tea room / cake shop!!!

But im sorting the 130...

Some new bits arrived in the post yesterday.

Its also now got a puma GRP bonnet. I do very much prefer the shape.

Theres a raptor dash in as well now, ive not had chance to fit many accessories but its coming along.

Just ordered some big bore shocks fir the back and medium duty +2" springs

I want a nice compliant ride, hence the std dampers on the front but the big bore shocks I've been impressed with on the 110 and will keep the back end in check once loaded up.

received a quote from "turborebuilds" regarding rebuilding the existing turbo with a hybrid cartridge from billet. Just shy of 400 notes. Thinking that's the way to go. Or so I spend a smidge more (okay 150% more) on a vnt?

Will be slipping a full width intercooler onto it.

Well thats the big bore dampers fitted on the back and the longer but reduced spring rate rear springs, its notably more comfy going down our lane.

Also robbed the 33 x 12.50 at2 wheels and slipped those on.

The hole in the chassis at the front was staring at me.... really need to get that sorted.

Ahhh so much more comfortable!

A vastly reduced spring rate has transformed it. Just soaks up all the bumps now :)

Steering damper to fit tomorrow. Abd I've ordered some spring spacers to slightly increase ride height a bit further.

It needs new bushes on the leading and trailing arms so ill get them done.

And new brakes as it's pulling to the right under breaking....

And a new adjustable panhard rod...

And doors...

I swear it's triggers broom reincarnate!

Aren't you going to need some castor correcting arms then?! That's going to hurt.

I'm interested in your spring choice - how did you choose? I'm thinking ahead a bit, but I too want a plush ride and my corner weights are all going to be way off standard. I have found that I have an interweb friend who does ride and handling for a very good manufacturer, but first hand LR knowledge is probably better....
