Things like this make my blood boil, hope you get HIM and it sorted out GR, and hope the slippery little Banker dont go bust or change the compeny name or anything like that to try get out of it as this seems to be a common thing with Scum like this.
 
Ok ,guys/girls, it's Aaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhh help me!, time. Veh is with main stealer who are going to strip engine next week for a lovely £1k but are already talking about whole new unit coming in around £8-9k. So I need somewhere who can help with supply and fitting of a recon unit. Obviously veh is not drive able which adds a further complication.
I throw it out there now for the help of those who have the knowledge of these things. Thanks in advance folks.

Thanks Hairy, he'll get his one way or another. I'm a great believer in karma. So far I've discovered three criminal offences that he has committed, which I have reported to trading standards and I've only just started on him :violent: :D

Holy Crap GR....what do they suspect is wrong with it??
 
Hi Ant, so far they're doing it on guesstimate. Just spoken to NWS about recon and they're coming in at 7.8k all in. It,s still a lot of pennies but they sound quite professional and website is good. Any info on them would be helpful too.
 
Holy crap, 7.8K for a recon unit, i woz thinking about a diesel 322 on a 06 or 07 plate for a weekend car but gota say things like this make me think might just plonk for a nice late p38 V8 on LPG, You have my Sympathy GR, hope it all works out well for you.

Not sure what engine you have but if it's the 3.0 TD6 there must a dozen or more for sale on ebay, which of course could be nearly as bad as yours but some offer a fitting and warranty for around £1600 and some engines are as low as £1k.

Of course its much better to have a unit that that you know repaired but at £8k i think i would be looking at a new car with full service history and sell yours for spares / repairs

Really sorry to hear your plight, i keep looking at my engine and thinking its only a matter of time....
 
Seen some recon engines coming in at lower figures....some around £1.7k up to £3.6K or thereabouts...not sure on the reputation of the vendors mind!

So, just to clarify, the 1k to strip the engine is just to diagnose what the problem is ?

I'm guesstamating here, but if your original numpties said "Three days of when are you picking this up to fix it ended with and I quote ' nice man' oh that's it I'm fed up with you I'm not fixing it'."

They didn't have a clue what was wrong and after faffing about for a while decided to turn it loose with you already having spent on it.

Now the main stealers, have it and are quoting a grand to find out what the problem is ?

Thanks HC. I've passed them on to a chap I know , who work with them. Only problem is he is soooooo busy God only knows how long it would be before I got it back from him. Other option is a company called EngineEngineers in Paisley area but a bit wary of strangers now, as "once bitten .....'.
So if anyone has heard of them, feedback would be appreciated.
On the runaround front , have seen a nice Volvo C70 on an 03 plate for £1k ish . Will test drive it etc next weekend. Although being a fickle female there is also a nice little slk going for around £1.5k which I keep getting drawn to but not really suitable for a GSD in passenger seat :lol:

If you are good at searching then I very very VERY strongly advise you to register for a free account of Duedil where you can search for companies by name which will also tell you the director and then you can search by the directors name and you can look for issues such as maybe multiple directorships with similar sounding company names and where one is struck off maybe another pops up almost immediately etc etc. You can also see if they have filed accounts or are late.

It takes minutes to register for a basic account for free - I have no association, connection or interest in Duedil other than I know a lot of businesses that check out potential account customers this way.

Of course I would never suggest that about this particular company but before I have any involvement with a company I am spending a lot of money with and are relying on a quality product, back up and service I would do this......................

Data that's what weve been looking at on eBay. Oddly enough there are loads of the 2.7 sport engines and loads of the 3.6 V8 but few of the TDs.

Have you searched under BMW and checked for any other marque it may have been fitted to?
 
Well the beast is back. Ran fine for a few days. Then started having issues with starting. Long story short, turns out it's the alternator, so now having a search through utube for a step by step. Ahhhh the joys of LR/RR
 
Already given rave to mechanic and due to a double bout of oldageeyes/dumbness cant find it on here. So utube it is :monitor_punch:
