Hi
I was driving to my local LR dealer the other morning in the fog (to get a door hinge)
I had my head lights & my fog light on,after about ten mins of driving I could smell burning I looked down and there was smoke coming from the gap between my steering wheel & the column that houses the wiper & light switch.
I quickly pulled over and cr***ed myself turned engine & lights off.
I started up again without the lights on & its been fine although when I turn them on it starts smelling again?/
Could this be a dodgy light switch??
Any Ideas??

hi there you need to test the foglight cables sounds like it earthing some were do not use it untill u find it or you will burn out the wireing are chatch on fire

I've also been told I could need a new light switch??
So if anyone has a spare they'd like to sell please
Let me know,it's a 2000 TD5 90...

Thanks for your help,I rang my local dealer & they wanted
£100 for a gen one & £45 for a Lucas one,but picked up a
Lucas one on eBay for £25 well happy!!
Took 10 mins to fit even for a novice like me!

Had the metal contact started sinking into the plastic on the old switch per chance?

The white plastic connector had melted!!
