Admittedly I like the smell of diesel in the cab but SWMBO thinks its way too strong. I've always put it down to me taking old oil to the dump or the steering box which is pishing fluid (I've a recon one which I'll fit tomorrow). Could there be anything else causing this? I did squash fit a defender fuel pump 6 months ago as Paddocks sent me the wrong part. The PAS is full so although it's leaking - it's minimal.

Any ideas?

Is there any signs of a wet diesel patch in the engine bay? If not then have you checked the sender unit for leaks.

If all else fails check your coolant expansion tank. If you have diesel in there then you're in the deep stuff.

Unfortunately I had the diesel in the coolant on my TD5. It cost me a new cylinder head and head gasket.:mad::mad:

I spose I ought to add that split injector leak off pipes are the most common reason for the fuel smell. Closely followed by loose connection on the actual injector pipes.

The coolant looks ok but them it llooks orange so i suppose that's fine. The engine bay looks fine. i'll check the inectors, Cheers
