Some old petrol is good for cleaning out the intercooler or brake cleaner just make sure it well and truly dry inside before starting motor:D

+1. I just use petrol, leave it drying in the sun while I change the oil and filters plus diff oil and then put it back last and start.

Diesels love brake cleaner!!!! So beware cleaning the intercoller with that stuff:eek:.
I agree with the oil mess... We are doing a disco 2 complete clutch... It's a nice car, a barstool of a job and there's oil everywhere under there.... No rust though....

I was thinking that Brake Cleaner works pretty well as starting fluid. On the rust front, I've worked on a few different Land Rover products now (not as many as a lot on here I'm sure) and the only one that doesn't leave a single mark on the ground is the Vogue LSE I've been repairing rust on for the past three years. I'm not saying that a RR wouldn't rust if it leaked as we all know that isn't true, but I do find it a little ironic!
