Is the fuel filter choked .or have you changed the tank cap ,and there is a vacuum in the tank .....Sounds like fuel starvation...

So are you saying that as soon as you hit an incline at cruising speed, you have to depress the throttle so far that it kicks down and the revs go very high?
If so, it might be a gearbox issue?

MY 1997 uses single pin Brown sensor for dash gauge. MY 1998 and on uses twin pin Blue sensor for dash gauge. Green sensor is for engine ECU. Black sensor for over heat sensing, only fitted MY 1999 and on. The OPs car, who i was replying to, is X reg so my comments regarding sensor colours and placement are correct for that vehicle.
ok guys thanks I take the point. sorry. I have been beating my head on this thing since May and Im getting a bit punch drunk. The guy has fiddled with so many things on it Im not trusting anything I see. I even found missing engine mount nuts under the turbo so..I have no idea what Im working on at the minute. Ill keep my questions to my posts from now on. ;)

Probably best but I would not worry too much as hijacking and chaos reign supreme here. It is hard enough keeping people on topic.

It does the same if I want to overtake and give it some welly it hits 50 mph and won't change gear unless I lift off for a few seconds then back on again but it doesn't always happen it's ran for a few weeks now no problem after I changed ecu sensor like wammers suggested and all of a sudden it's playing up but it's like sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't it's had new ecu sensor fuel filter and changed boost pipe last night made no difference

Link doesn't work

Sorry, no, it was my phone.

That looks more like a gearbox problem than engine issue

Try putting it in 3 and see if it does the same.
Would be good to get some diagnostic on it really.

It makes no difference if I try to change gear when it's doing it I had it on the nano com and no faults show

Shouldn't be around the 4000rpm mark at 50!! I would agree with wazzajnr.
Have look at your gearbox oil level recently? Any leaks around the g/box sump or cooler under your bumper?

New sensor fixed it and now intermittent? What about the wires to the sensor?

that's this weeks job been waiting for new filter to arrive

Is it a case of the gbox ECU not recieving info from a speed sensor?
Don't know that's a bit to technical for me no faults on nano and none recorded

Where is the speed sensor
I think the abs ecu calculates speed from abs sensors then sends it to the BECM which in turn sends it to the gearbox ecu.
If you have nanocom, you should be able to see road speed in gearbox ecu I think.

Where is the speed sensor
Ok, the gearbox ECU, uses a collection of info from the vehicle's speed, engine speed and throttle position for example and decides what gear suit's..god help me! Have you had any problems with Speedo or rev counter? What wazzajnr said also.. any abs lights flickering?

speedo and rev are fine no problems no abs lights they go off ok

Houston we have a problem
