Up and out there playing with my Disco's Pump this morning...

I turned the torx headed screw 2 turns clockwise. I drove the car and pick up was better..

The Diaphram I turned 90 degrees clockwise ( so when standing by the wing the dot is at 12 oclock now not 9oclock when I started) Not really sure I noticed much difference if I am honest... no smoke though

I then turned the Star Wheel 180 degrees (half of a turn)

Hoping this sounds about right:)

With all of the above done, the car now picks up straight away unlike how it used to be on pull off where I felt I needed to push it...... It also seems to pull better when the car is rolling too.. I do not have any smoke at all but then I don't thrash the car as such..... Going to Milton Keynes in it tomorrow so will see about what she does MPG wise:D

Thanks again Guys for this Brilliant Thread

Cheers

Daz:)

Oh dear ,I think I've over done it.
Turned the torx screw 1 1/2 turns
Diapham 90 deg
Star wheel 1 turn.

I did have 1 bar boost.............................now have 1.2 bar:D
I think I'd better turn it down a bit:(

Any tips for getting those screws out that hold the top on? Broke 2screwdriver handles even after a few days soaking the screws in wd40.:(

Yep it is if you are NON EDC !!!

Think they were taking the **** when they built mine.

She's a '95 Auto ES, checked under the dash and she's cable operated, not fly-by-wire (which in itself is hilarious cuz the 'expert' at my local Land Rover 'specialists' said my old CEL/Revs dropping issue was due to a faulty potentiometer which would cost £900 to fix. Good luck with that one pal!).

I'm towing a fooking heavy trailer every time I go camping now and it'd be nice to get up a hill in less that 3 days, so figured I'd give this a go...

Up comes the bonnet, and, well, it's all just... wrong.
Wrong I say!

It's a non-EDC model and according to Mr Haynes, there should be a nice shiny Bosch R509 waiting for my attentions. Instead there's a weird lump of metal which which looks as though it might be the fuel injector pump but is about 3x larger than the Bosch and rectangular in shape. More akin to its EDC counterpart, but not electronically controlled.:confused:

I'll try and get a photo tomorrow.
Baffled.

Sounds like mine. Cable from the pedal with a rectangular pump with a block on the side with a cable out the side of it, with 5 or 6 wires from it.

Exactly!

What really baffled me is that other accelerator cables seem to come out of the driver's side bulkhead and connect to the wing before routing to the pump whereas this assembly takes the cable from the bulkhead, loops under the servo and where it terminates at the link/pulley mechanism it's bolted directly onto the pump.

Hi guys

so really this mod isn't any good for a 98 auto as i have so is there any other mod that can be done to a 98 auto with similar performance.

mine has been.

1, de-catt.

2, egr blanked.

3, cooling fan removed and kept in the back.

hi has anyone come across brake problems on there disco i have put new disc on all round and pads she is pulling to the left bad i have put her on a rolling road and the brake balance is fine she has been rebuilt all new bushers and suspension any ideas anybody as i am baffeled were to go next

Just done mine :D

Went for 1.5 turns of the torx, one turn of the star and moved the diapraghm from 7oclock to 11 oclock. Much better off boost and roves round to 4k much quicker. :)

I think you check you turbo boost as well. Mine was 0.8 bar & i changed it to 1.0 bar with the turbo. Now i have done the injector it's at 1.2 bar, don't want people blowing things up.

I'm a wimp (and the light was fading!) I only done half turn on the torx and went for a quick run, it does pick up quicker, will have a look at the other bits at the weekend... Cheers V8

WOW, Thank you.

I cannot believe I have had the Disco for exactly 3 years and 1 week and only just done this.

All I did was adjust the screw on top for the pre-boost and it's so much easier for normal driving, I can cruise at 30 in fourth without the car juddering, hell, I can cruise at 30 in fifth now.

And going around the country lanes where we live is so much easier, there's only one way to describe it now:

SCHMOOOOOTH
