Battery is good (630cca)have cleaned all the earth straps and connections on starter and battery. Head lights came up brighter but still slow cranking and a pig to start when cold fine once warmed up first turn every time got to be the starter or is there anything else I should check?.

Have you tried a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine block?
Ive found on 200s especially the earth leads are just crap and they need a new one dritect from the neg terminal to one of the flywheel housing bolts, really helped as did another from battery neg to the chassis.
300 are better as the earth lead is one piece but have heard of them breaking down inside the crimps, so again worth making a new one.

Have you actually tested the battery?

I had this on my 110 and it needed a starter motor unfortunately.
Easy enough job really.

Hi lynall I've tried a jumper lead made no difference and battery (new) is definitely good spins the crap out of the cars and I've tried two other battery's I have but still slow cranking.think I'll just have to get a new starter will let you know the result.

Cetainly sounds like it, the britpart ones are cheap enough and they last okay.
I have had them apart a few times due to water/mud getting inside and they are very cheaply made compared to a bosch unit, but the on one my 90 is a britpart one and must have been on there for 5 years now.
If you are in no rush when you take yours off might be worth a quick strip for a look see?
