Where the hell is the bleed screw (/nipple) on Series III brakes (it's an unmodified 1982 one)?

Maybe there's just too much mud on my Landy at the moment but I can't seem to see it, any pointers on what it looks like and where it is, I've looked at the Haynes book carefully but can't seem to see anything like it on the Landy!

Man I'm confused.

I think I've looked where you mean, the opposite side of the brake to the wheel? If so, I couldn't see anything. Do you need to remove any part of the brake to gain access to it, if so I havn't done that so that's probably why I can't find it

ffs trace yer brake pipe to the wheel...it goes into the brake cylinder... nearby, within 1" there will be a little screw with a hole in it, it may have a black cap on it. thats yer bleed valve. if pipe goes into cylinder then out again follow it to the other cylinder on that wheel.

Ta for that, I'll have a look when I get back from holiday

(Shame there's no beer emoticon like on another forum I frequent otherwise I'd offer you one :D )

so basically its a made up word deriving from emotion and icon as in emot icon. probably invented by a computer geek. sounds about right that ;)

just as i thought! i just had a feeling that it was a portmanteau and look i was right
