NOw i'm up n running again i'm after a set of side steps as part of operation "Baby on the way".

I saw these Black 3 inch side bars for the Freelander but it says for 5 door.

Was wondering if anyone knows why they wont go on a 3 door (I was under the impression that they were the same wheelbase and chassy).

What do you reckon?

I've got the LR ones and they will fit 3 or 5 door models. This ad does clearly say not for 3 door models but I can't see why.
The brackets look very low and vulnerable in the pics, certainly lower than mine.

There is something in the instructions about u bolts fitted through the floor pan and this could be the reason.

thanks for posting this,im looking for sidesteps for mine and saw this too, mines 3 door and i wondered why it says 5 door only.
cheers

If you look really closely at the picture you can see the bar has steps for the front and rear doors ,which would look odd on the 3 door.

or convieniently placed for roof box access...

The web site got back tobme and said that the fixing is different- think that chaser was on the money.

incidently, how are the tear drop type for standing on to get to a roof box?

Im selling some chrome steps in the forsale section

I like the look of the bars, but i need a surface that my wife wont mind standing on. That was what i liked about the ones in the link above.

I think that i'm gonna have to go for gen landy ones.

Tear drop ones give the best of both worlds, you can stand on them and the narrow section by the front doors means less of a stretch when getting in the car compared to the wide aluminium ones.
