Spent a few hours tidying the RR up today, I keep wanting to take the side steps off as they let it down, all misshapen and rubber de-laminating on the lip.
Trouble is if i take them off, they are that rusty and bent there's a good chance i wont get them back on again.
I really can't make my mind up to keep them or remove, what do you think looks best, with or without?

I like with, and if you forget to lower it, you use the step to get in (I am a short arse)

I took mine off because I don't like them, and I think it looks loads better. But it's so subjective. It's a bit like asking whether strawberry ice cream or chocolate ice cream tastes better!!

That totally depends which one your mrs is prepared to let you lick off her :D

I like the look of the side steps personally. I havent got any myself but would consider them if a set came up for good money. Its the same with the roof bars. I like them but again not for everyone..

I like the look better without them, but I would still fit them as the keep the mud of the sides of the car.

Are they definitely rusty or just bent?
I got given a set that were a bit mishapen. Stripped the rubber off, beat them flat, coated them in hammerite and re-fitted the rubbers. I had a couple of replacement brackets made, POP for my local metal benders.
I like the look.

They are bent, tried to clout one of the bug bulges out with a mallet and a ton of rust fell out the bottom, so rusted as well.
The rubber is also splitting along the lip where they have been bent.

I honestly think its a case of leave them as they are or ditch them, there's no way i would but another set unless they were new ones but i've got better things to spend £250 at the moment.

Mine are the same state on my discovery 2.And i have the same dilemma lol
Theyre useful for the kids getting in and out.

Doesn't look like yours goes off road so probably best to save yourself the hassle and wait for them to drop off!

I personally like them going back to my first Disco in the 90s (The vehicle, not the dance). If my Rangie didn't have them on then it would have been getting them once I'd stopped paying for repairs!!

I've got side steps on my td5 but 3.5efi's rangie doesn't. As a small person I know which I prefer, especially when wearing a skirt :p

I'm with Fergie46, binned mine as soon as i got home with the car, in fact while taking them off I was actually amazed they actually stayed on all the way up the M6 they were that rotten. I dont think side steps do anything for the looks of any Range Rover, they just make them look fat and dumpy
