Hi all,
I currently own a LC200 2014 42,000km VX fully loaded, and the other day I saw used 2014 RR autobiography V8 diesel with low mileage 44,000km. Owner of the car likes to trade it with my lc200+$(15k). Does/Could anyone tell me if its worth tge trade? I have been driving land cruisers past 10 years, 2years Lx570, now I kinda want to drive European made cars

Why , oh why, oh why. Do people insist on coming on to the internet, to as a bunch of people they have never met,asking what they should do, or is this a good deal, in what is personal choice. No-one would walk into a crowded bar and say I'm thinking of trading my car, should I?
Nor would they walk into a club they had just joined and stand in the middle of the floor and ask if x amount of pounds is a good trade for their car. They would check out the market value for both, pull on their big boy pants and work out if they were being offered a good deal.
Its the same as the other personal choices they come asking :should I buy a Disco or a Range Rover? Well which one do you prefer, you've got to live with it.
Should I buy a red L322 or this green sport. Again, your choice, you have to live with it.
And on
And on
And on
FJS people , there are just some things which a bunch of strangers cannot decide for you. It's like asking us what colour should you dye your hair, when we have no bloody idea if you even have hair.

We're a discussion forum, its a fair place to ask for opinion from people that might have actual experience beyond book value

IMHO, don't bother with the RR unless you have deep pockets and access to proper diagnostics. I certainly wouldn't.


Unsurprisingly, I don't know much about the geography of your location, but I would be surprised to hear that there is proper parts availability ..... I could be completely wrong, and I sort of hope I am ... but i still wouldn't have a modern RR ..... especially if, as it appears, you have to find money AND your truck :eek:.

Not quite the same is it?... this is not a crowded bar full of random people. It's a land rover forum full of people who own land rovers and range rovers. He wants opinions on a range rover. Seems a reasonable place to ask...
 
Knowing the little that I do, and bearing in mind your location (if true and not a joke) I would forget buying anything built later than about 1985 or so.
At that age you will have some comfort in use, but more importantly most faults are fixed with a hammer and gaffer tape, not a bank of diagnostic computers and a bottomless pocket.

Never owned rr, its a .forum, im asking opinions of others who have owned rr. Im pretty sure I ll find more experienced owner on the internet than my local bar

Where I live, servicing isnt expensive as it is like in European countries. Where I live, we have loads 2018model rr on streets. I have heard than 2013/2014 models had issues, thats why Im here asking opinions

I have access to a great diagnostic, and where I live, servicing isnt as expensive as in western countries. My only concern is that I heard 2013/14 models have problems and issues. Most people in my area say that 2015 and onwards rr is more reliable than previous years such as 2013/2014

IMHO, RR are too complicated to be what i would call reliable - we had one (L322), years ago, bought new and in the six months we had it, it was here and driveable less than six weeks. We got rid of it, bought a ni$$an, that fell in half, so we went back to D1's, which are simple, and easily fixed :).

Someone with more current experience of RR may be able to answer the question " Are 2015 and newer RR more reliable?" .... For me, I'd be keeping the money and the LC ;)

The reliability stats constantly put LR products near the bottom of the tables.

I'm sure you will. I also mentioned club but youve chosen to ignore that. That does not change the fact you walked in, gave no details , except someone wants to give me a RR for my LC and 15k, is it worth trading . How should we know?
You are more likely to know the market price in your area. You are the only one who knows for sure if you think 'it's worth the trade'. You're the only one who knows whether you prefer the LC or the RR for looks, comfort, finance, what youre using it for, and probably a hundred other personal choices.
Asking specific questions is one thing., e.g. which gearbox seems to have less issues, should I buy a RR with a known fault, are 22" low profiles a good idea, any idea what the vibration through the floor is,etc. As I already said, asking a bunch of strangers, for advice on which car you should drive is ludicrous , anyone saying otherwise is as ludicrous as the question itself. On here , the majority will say RR, (with the caveat, they break down all the time but we love them), go on a Toyota site, the majority will say LC.
In case you didnt get it my last analogy, asking strangers, which car you should buy, is akin to asking strangers which underwear(or lack of) is best for you. That's how tailored to the individual it is.

Do a quick recall search and you will see how 'reliable' the RR is. Unlike most marques, RR owners are very honest about the brand. Only two types of people buy Land Rover products, those who will buy one and never buy anther one, or those who are stupid enough to buy them over and over again, because they love the brand and like fixing them.
Ask @Tigger Eeyore & Roo about his 2017 RR and how long it took for it to break, and how long it took a main dealer to fix.

It appears only you have a problem with this post. I would also suggest you have a problem with using the forum in general.

OP. I haven't got experience of landcruiser, only hilux but the reliability rummors were true in my experience. I can't see the value in swapping a nice reliable offroaders for a nice possibly unreliable offroaders but I get the change. If funds are critical don't do it. If you can afford it and moving a problem vehicle on quickly is a problem, worth a shot.
 
I say buy the Rolls Royce it will be a lot better than anything Land rover have ever made.:D

Actually, some of us buy them because we need a 4 x 4 and can't afford to buy anything better.:p
