As it's been a nice day I thought I would take the scenic route home from Bridgnorth and do a few easy lanes, just as I turned in to my favourite little lane I came across this....

As you can see some scumbag has decided to fly tip about 60 empty gas bottles right in the middle of the lane!!

I was going to give Shropshire council a call in the morning

alot of you will know the lane

52.501894,-2.351353

What's the best way to get them shifted?

Same lane last year had about 200 tyres dumped on it. Others in that area get fly tipped but not on that scale. Kuwati tankers

the local scrap metal place near me says he'll take bottles so long as they are cut up. must be a possible pressure thing. but it is annoying that people fly tip especially when my dad has to pay to use his trailer for work so he can get rid of his waste building materials legally.

I've heard a similar thing - if an intact bottle, or even a bottle with the top cut off is put into a crusher for instance, then the crusher may crush (sorry!) the open end down thus pressurising the rest of the bottle which could lead to BOOM! and shrapnel everywhere.

I remember years ago a full(?) a oxygen cylinder was charged to the 240 tonne electric arc furnace where I worked. It made a hell of a bang and quite a mess, fortunately no one was hurt. Procedures were changed to ensure it never happened again, no whole cylinders were allowed in the charge after this incident.

to weigh them in they need to be cut in half - i do them on the band saw at work.

there's a few quid's worth of scrap there if it was closer i'd go and get em :D - the empty welding bottles will sell on ebay for a fair bit too

Also worth using this as well
