Nah, you'll sort it for less than 3k.
Someone had a steering column repaired recently but can't remember who.
I think a lot of it could be down to the key issues and that might just need synching. If you get that done, the column might behave as it's set to go back to where it was based on which key was used.

why does it need a new lock handle and set of keys ?

steering column adjust up/down.. it moves occasionally but not when you want it to? does the seat adjust ? the seat control pack may be a problem or it may be the relay behind the fusebox if you even consider £3k to spend on that I have a bridge to sell you in London. ! I seem to recall another LZer having his steering column replaced for £1200 !

the suspension bushes, meh ! they go. its a consumable to be honest, you can buy the arms with the bushes in cheap enough or just the bushes and with a bush removing kit DIY it.

as others have said, if you spanner yourself, you can keep a RR running fairly inexpensively, if you don't, garages will eat your face.

we're all here to help. we've all had our tales of woe and other LZer's have helped us as we've helped others.. be as descriptive as you can with problems and we'll do what we can

welcome !

The key not working in the door is an easy fix, the parts are £5ish on ebay and half hour to sort look for BMW x5 or e38 door lock repair kit and youtube for a how to do it. As for the steering column does it move with the control on left side of column or can you move it by hand ? it could be the threads gone in the plastic nut or the motor bracket broken, if it aways returns to lowest setting it could just be the memoir setting.

PS, a 53 plate front end didnt look like that did it @Saint.V8 some one has up graded it. (see what I did there tagging @Saint.V8 the man in the know ooh I just did it again !)

Glad you popped in. I was wracking my brain for your username, when I tagged people, but it just wouldn't come . I blame old age :)

I have plenty of old age young lady would like some of mine ? been to see the nurse today they like to see me twice a year to make sure I`m still breathing in as well as out it looks like my lungs will get to 100, eighteen years before the rest of me does.

Yes I did test drive it. I asked about the suspension issue. Chap said he put a new battery in.
Never checked the locking. ( how silly) steering I thought.... easy fix.
I had £3000 to fix it up.
Probably need 6k
Sounds like the last owner got fed up maintaining/repairing it then...
That's the problem with these machines, they give a great deal when they work and demand an even greater deal when they don't! Both financially and emotionally.....
But... If there is a real enthusiast inside who loves landrover regardless then you'll keep the beast, if not.... It's image alone won't save it or yourself.
There are plenty of RR's that have been bought for the "look" and then sold for the expense they demand... Unfortunately some us don't find a bargain all the time but some of us do. Some of us use them as daily drivers and some drive flipping miles in theirs!!
Sooooooo.... If your in it to win it? You will and you will enjoy it.
If you just wanted the "look" then your out of luck!!
Plenty of **** taking and stupidity...err sometimes... But plenty of support and knowledge to be had.
If you choose to accept this mission, this note will break down and end up on a trailer at some point!! Sorry, I meant explode......
;)
Long boring speech.....:p:D

I ain't Saint, but no, that facelift is late noughties. I think it is either 07 or 08 when they went full bling.

Yeah, breakdown cover is a must. We've all been on the back of a trailer in it. Mind you, it does improve the fuel economy and the elevated driving position cannot be beaten.

Sadly it looks like this girl has not been loved. She 's failed an awful lot of MoTs , with advisories remaining in following years :(
However, some TLC might be all she needs :)
