In other good news spoke to rust.co.uk today - very helpful indeed. They advised using epoxy mastic. Although it does leave a Matt finish so I may go over it with hammer rite. And work were throwing out some stuff, one of which was a barrel of shell ensis dw fluid. Which is ideal for the inner chassis rails. I do like freebees I do :)!
 
bit of a tip fer doing the under side of the rails if you have another patch like that to do cut the rot out right across the rail into the sides to the thickness of the plate yer welding in then yer can run the sides in from the side rather than lying on yer back under a shower of bombers n sparks :D:D:D
