been a while now, very happy with how its going, even picked up first on 1 occasion :D and just been messing around with it when im not at an event, she certainly seems to go well for something built using other peoples rubbish :D
well it was good untill last month, killed the steering (big pile of logs on the farm which were just asking to be driven over....:D:D) ive changed the pump, damper (it was f***ed) and checked all the arms and cv's, the steering box works well when you jack the front wheels of the floor but when theres any pressure it just squeels like a pig, so i think its an inner seal gone which is letting fluid pass therefore not having enough pressure to turn the wheels, is that a fair assumtion?
well in better news...ive got a new pair of tyres froom the scrapyard, all i did was take the rims back and theyre happy :D theyre brand new, still got the nobbles :cool: while i was down there i found a winch...a very big winch :D and that was not very much (in return for some old batteries) so all in all im quite happy :D

i do punch event typ things, with a club called terratagging, and ive just started doing it with a new club called exmoor offroading, its pretty simple.
40 tags/punches, 5 extremes (likely to roll/break your vehicle. however so will most of the others if you get it wrong :D) you have to find as many of the tags as possible and if you can get to them punch them on your tag sheet attached to your passenger door area (mines on the bulkhead). theres also "traffic light cards" which are worth 5 points, you get a traffic light if you do something funny, spectacular, roll etc althouh theyre pretty hard to get, i got one for towing the marshal to the burger van once... :D:D:D so they arnt impossible ;)
you get 4 hours to do it all, you get 2 points for every person you tow out, you get given a playing card by the person your towing out (everyone gets 3 cards at the start) which shows the marshals youve towed someone out.
you arnt allowed to winch yourself to the tags, although winching someone else out is equivilent to towing someone out.
thats it i think, but its explained at the events more thoroughly than this.
it only costs £30 aswell so not as much as some clubs. oh its based in somerset, but we do mendips, exmoor, quantocks its a laugh :D

i would like to try trialing a bit more aswell, ive done it with terratagging, and done quite well, but they only do it every few months, and most clubs wont let me drive :(:(

cant wait to get my winch mounted, chucked it in the back and wow articulation is a bit better :D still want softer springs though... :D

right, havent updated this for well nearly a year, lots has happened, and some things wont go down well :D
well to start off with shes got a nice big 8 ton pull ramsey winch in the back with 2 batterys etc, +3 shocks allround, longer but softer than standard springs on the back, disclocation cones, etcetc ive also redone all the pas stuff as i wasnt happy with it, now its pretty sweet.
i was having issues with the carb not running smooth so ive ditched the old zenith and now its got a nice gas conversion on it
riht, now for the bit that you lot wont like  i hink we all know landy axles leave allot to be desired, especially when your running dumper tyres, well ive bought a nissan patrol for its axles  but it wil have a rear locker and front limmited slip.. moving on from that :D its got a new pair of 4 point harness' and a new fire extinguisher  mainly as im moving towards speed events, however i will probably build a different machine for that

Patrol axles!! atlast!! unfortunatly not fitted- and a few setbacks...
ill start at the rear as that is the one going on first.
so first they came off, with the aid of our old digger...

then out came the tools!

And the axles are on the floor! this is where i started prep'ing the rear axle, however this took a week as i did my silver duke of edinborough exped, had a bad stomack (sick every 20 mins for 2 days- not good!) then a funeral, so no time for the landy... anyway, i came back to her today, ive ordered a tractor 3 point balljoint that should get here monday, this will give me an adjustable rear rose jointed a-frame for not stupid money.... then i decided to red-oxide the rear axle before painting black. aswell as this i realised im going to have to fabricate some kind of gueard for the vacuum locker set up as it is in a fairly vulnerable position. i will worry about that once its fitted...

so after painting the rear axle i decided to go and strip the hub down on the front so i could see the damage of the cv... it was pretty devastating... not only has the cv gone, the hub is knackered, the 1/2 shaft is scrap and the brake disk is cracked... after pricing it up it will be cheaper to replace the whole axle- after doing all the seals etc. bit of a shame as i was hoping to have her running on 6 stud axles for a trial on sunday... i guess thats out the window... ohwell, i'd rather have done it right rather than rushed it. :)
