My lad bought dear old dad a Series 3 for my birthday (cracking son), he imports restores an sells VW Campers, American Pick-ups etc for a living and wanted to get me going. So I'm now the proud owner of a 1982 Series 3 LWB - 109 i think. Not sure of its history, according to DVLA its not been taxed/MOT'd since April 2000
Loads of bits needed so for starters to do:-
  • Chassis Welding
  • Electrics - some work some don't
  • Binding Brakes

i think you mite be better looking at a new chassis as i think it mite cost too much to weld that up

Go for it. I stripped mine down (1983 Series 3 LWB ex military) and rewelded all the chassis myself. Great fun. I'm now refitting the axles and she's looking like a vehicle again! Two years since getting her!

Thanks Dave, looking to buy a mig welder this week cos I've found more rust round the bulkhead - steep learning curve ahead but will add pics

Thanks Joe, as you can see from the first pics it was a mess. Not had tax/mot since 2000 so quite a bit of work to do
