The only real thing I hate is the ariel on the wing :/ Still, just a minor cosmetic :)

she REALLY bends in the middle now if you stand on the tail..... I dread to think what we will find chassis wise when we get down to it.......

Maybe tomorow I will get the back window ect off, and perhaps the rear tub :) ( tho I doupt I will get time due to going back to the other house and physio ) REALLY want to see whats under it tho.......wasnt sure it was safe with me and dad sitting in it today lol

best thing to do is hide the grinder till you come to the chassis, else you w2ont have any bolts left to put back.

lol have no fear brnocz, all the bolts are going to be changed for marine quality stainless ones :)
Most are past it anyway, or someone else has removed and never replaced so might as well do it right :)

Quite a project! I would be suprised if the chassis is salvagable and the bulkhead looks suspect! But you never know, see what it's like when you have it stripped down :)

I was under the impression you could buy a new bulkhead but its looking more and more unlikely :( I also read something about a td5 bulkhead but it was a LOT of work.
Can they be repaired even in a state like this ?
I spoke to richards chassis and he said he knew a firm that restored them, but I dont know what extent they would go to.

Hi BertBuckie,

If you have a look on Thank you for visiting Pegasus Parts on-line shop they do brand new bulkheads for series 2/2a land rovers. or try Ashtree landrover also; they sell refurbished bulkheads that are galvanised, plus a number of other refurbed galvanised parts.

Project looks a good one, I'm stuck over in Inverness, Land rover-less due to funds and lack of suitable garage/shed to do a refurb in!

cheers landycommander :)
Inverness? thats nae far awa :D
dont have the space....and to be honest this is really my dads project and I dont have space so its there until we build up by them ( tho I think I will end up doing more than him as Im very easily obsessed.... )
Really enjoying it ( so far ) and the other threads in this section ( especially 90truckcab ) are amazing, I only hope it gets near to that standard :)

I would go for a galvanised one if I was going to replace it, just makes sense to me!

Few of my rebuild pics here if you are interested: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/our-series-2a-project-60423.html

You have a mk2 SRI :D:D:D:D
Im a big big VX fan lol

As for the galvy bulkhead, I am reading a lot about them warping because obviously they arnt the thickest of metal and the heat required for the galvy process is just too great.....my dad tells me that they think they have sussed out a cold galvy process tho so I will keep my eyes open :)
Away to have a look at your link, on GPRS internet at this house tho so VERY slow :(

GPRS, god no I'm paying £7.50 month for 5 gb mobile broadband

at least can youtube and look at full websites at reasonable speed

lol, my wife is 200 mins, unlimited txts and unlimited internet ( mobile broadband ) for £10 a month
The problem is out here in the middle of no where ( land rover land lol ) you dont get 3.5G only 2G :(
Works fast in the town tho, usually download at around 160kbs :) - here its 4-6kbs :(

had a busy couple hours tonight, got all but 5 bolts off the back tub ready to lift it off..... typically one of the stuck ones is the one under the arch by the petrol tank where you cant get at with a grinder :(:(:( - doesnt help ours has sank that side - a bit of the chassis under there is as thick as a pencil lmao :D

unfortunatly because of where it is you cant get a decent swing of the hammer tho do this....also its either a captive nut or tapped into something the other side ( im guessing, the one next to it was anyway )
I might try the dremel for many many hours of slow grinding tomorrow after the docs, also my dad has a nut splitter.... might try it on a bolt head and see what results i get however theres such a lack of space I cant see it working either.
What a state the chassis is in tho..... deffinatly not repairable lol galvy it is when we ( dad ) can afford it :D

well dont give up!
I have 3 outside that look like that.....well they are in varying stages of restoration. First thing to do is strip it down to chassis and fix it or replace it.

It all depends on how original you are going to redo it.
