Hi everyyone.
I am new to the Zone and a new Landy owner (to be).
I have been longing for an old Landy for years and I have just been offered two! one is a 1962 Series 2 and the other a Series 3 1980.
Both look pretty good, the 1980 has a full Safari roof which looks great.
Both are around £8k
Which is a better long term buy, the series 2 or the 3?

Welcome.

I know nothing of the series, you would do better to ask in that section.

But I would ask is either on a galvanized chassis. Looks are always deceptive were a landy is concerned its the underneath that seals the deal

OK, Thanks anyway.
Neither have Galvanised Chassis' but both look pretty good and sound.

If they both have sound chassis, then s2 all day long.
Look really really hard at the chassis.
Ignore the outside first off, I am sure you have the saying, posh frock but no knickers?

Hi and welcome!

As mentioned, if both are sound, the series 2 would be the best bet. But both would be good if the chassis and bulkhead are sound or need minimal work.
Whatever you get, let us know and post some pics. It’s the rules!

Thanks very much, pleasingly, the Series 3 is exempt as well. First registered in June 1980!

Hi

Quick question, the Series 3 I am interested in is showing its taxed but there is NO MOT history showing on the Gov website.

It just says date of first MOT unknown!

Any ideas why this could be?
