A picture at last .

Lot's of information there to think about. I might just start with the timing chain and see where that takes me but, thanks for all the detailed information. You certainly know these engines and your way around them. :)

Cheers.

I wouldn't take to much notice of that if i were you most of it is a load of nonsense. :D

There's always one .

This is true, your description of how to time the injection pump was utter nonsense. But carry on. It is best to know what you are talking about before spouting off i do you obviously don't.

Whatever . That's how I had to do mine and runs bob on obviously you just stick to factory stick your pins in here and here and off you go but couldn't do that being as I changed my flywheel for an series and a few other bits and and pieces but carry on I don't really give a toss .

It is indeed .P's I was not spouting anything I was giving a rough guide to the kinda thing involved and at the end of my post I put it's not an exact text book description and be sure he understood what he was getting in to before pulling bits off .

Yes but it was very rough and little of it was correct. You NEVER turn these engines backwards. To do the chains and time the cam and pump he will need several special tools. For the mechanical pump you would need to set 1.54 mm lift on pump at TDC number one firing. Rather than the 0.90 mm set on the EDC pumps. I can explain how to do it but it would be rather a long post. He would be better downloading P38 RAVE manual and following the instructions in that reference chain changing and timing of engine. It is quite easy IF you know what you are doing, but not if you don't. ;)

Well there you go and if you read my post I said turn the engine the right way to take up any slack in the chains before setting or checking and off the top of my head I don't remember the values that's why I said make sure you understand what your doing . So yes I do know what I'm doing and you don't need all the fancy tooling but you do need the pump adapter and dial gauge the rest you can get away with .You may well follow the book to the letter but the book can't and won't beat experience of which I have plenty trucks tractors cars excavators dozer s etc done them all .

Oh and the big American tractors when I lived in Canada cummins cat case detroit perkins hercules chevy etc etc need I carry on .There are ways of saying to someone you have missed the finer points in a rough description perhaps you may want to investigate this .I'm done .

How are you going to time the cam? Your description of pump timing was way off, maybe you just think you know what you are doing. You said turn engine backwards, you never do that. Anyway carry on. Am i supposed to be impressed by your time in Canada? You clearly don't have a clue what you are on about reference the M51.

Yes yes yes blah blah blah .get on with your life and grow up .

You really are a tool, apart from the bit about using an extension to get the back starter bolt, everything you said was total and utter nonsense and rubbish. You have been sussed with your bullshitting and don't like it. You maybe able to pull the wool over some peoples eyes with your crap but not those who do know what they are on about.
