Has anyone here ever sent an injector off for testing? There are quite a few offering the service on Ebay with prices ranging from £7 upwards. I am just wondering how well these services work.
I emailed a few of them to ask questions but none replied.Has anyone here ever sent an injector off for testing? There are quite a few offering the service on Ebay with prices ranging from £7 upwards. I am just wondering how well these services work.
I stripped my engine and cylinders 1 and 5 were sooty, so I had the two injectors overhauled, the guy who did it is well up on injectors but could not re code them just said put them back with the original code, he is in silsden north yourkshire.Piston one went in the engine but there was diesel getting into the sump at the time after changing seals and washers. The valves were black in that cylinder and I think it was either a cracked head or the injector. I don't want to use that injector again without testing. If it tests OK then I will use all originals. If it tests badly then I will assume it was that and get another one.
Can you remember roughly how much he charged?I stripped my engine and cylinders 1 and 5 were sooty, so I had the two injectors overhauled, the guy who did it is well up on injectors but could not re code them just said put them back with the original code, he is in silsden north yourkshire.
Passed its MOT last week so I'm happy.
I think it was about £180 for the twoCan you remember roughly how much he charged?
That was for the rebuild, not sure about just testing them.oh bloody hell, that's a bit rubbish
I spoke to Doctor Diesel and he says that specialist testing gear is needed because the injectors are cam driven. The few places that have the gear will charge a lot. At least I know now that the cheap testing services on ebay won't be of use. Nothing is that simple with Land Rovers.
I used Merlin Diesels at Preston. I think the last lot were about £15 per injector, and they have the proper kit to do the EUI injectors, not just a bloke looking at the spray pattern
I read it but I looked ot up and they were quite a bit more. The do exchange injectors but I cant remember the prices, you could email them.
Was that recently? For mine they were £25 per injector for the test, and £165 for a recon injector with coding. And they refunded the testing for the ones I had replaced.
Was that recently?
Did it include VAT
