Hi. I have just purchased a sankey 3/4 ex MOD trailer fitted with a Bradley Doublelock MH35 towing eye.
My question is this - does this eye rotate? the damper seems to be stuck in and the eye wont rotate at all.
If it doesnt rotate then i will need to change my nato hitch to a rotating one.
Any advice welcome.

Surely the words "WARNING, FIXED EYE," ought to give you some sort of clue, if not then the words "Towing Pintle must be free to rotate" should :doh:

What nato do you have? I though you just removed the pin to make it rotate or I did with mine
 
Have you released the reverse plunger (press and twist if I remember correctly) once the plunger is up then the eye should be able to move back / forward to operate the over-run brakes (assuming that is what you mean by damper?)

Not on the one in OP's pic. It clearly says it is a fixed eye, and that the pintle needs to be able to rotate.

I didn't mention rotation. The OP said the damper was stuck, normally over-run brake have dampers to control fwd / back movement of the hitch when the trailer pushes against the towing vehicle when slowing down. Even fixed (non rotating) towing eyes move back / fwd, the plunger on top is to lock the fwd / back movement so that the brakes don't come on when you try to reverse.

The OP wanted to know if the hitch could be made to rotate, or if he needed to change his hitch.

Looks like a mod spec hitch is required!

Hello can these be adjusted to work with lighter trailers? The trailer i have doesn't seem heavy enough to apply the brakes.
 
The trouble is people are selling crap like this 3 TONNE TOW MULTI JAW NATO HITCH AND 50MM BALL | eBay and calling it a nato hitch.

Which it clearly isn't.

Unless there is another NATO :)

Things like that have a place but calling a Nato jaw is a little misleading though I'm not sure what else it should be called.

Something nobody has mentioned so far......As far as I'm aware there is no problem using a fixed hook and fixed eye in normal road conditions and only becomes an issue when driving off-road when the difference in across axle angle between vehicle and trailer can become extreme.
 
The way things are going people will be inventing their own NATO standard for tea and coffee next.
