I doubt we will get on this trip but myself and my mate next door are dead keen to join you guy's sometime over the next few months. One thing we are unsure of is the capability of our cars in terms of off road preparation.

My mate has a 1990 Classic Range Rover I have a Discovery 2 both are V8's both are stock.... are they suitable for a trip like this or should we be doing a few things to them first?

Any advice gratefully received..

99% of the places we usually go are perfectly fine for standard vehicles, even gaylanders come on our routes and survive with the doors intact!!

seriously - its greenlaning, not a pay & play. most of the stuff we do is fine without mods as long as you dont mind the paintwork gettin scratched. the 'serious' bits like the deep puddles, its your choice. for the big holes on the Plains theres nearly always a 2nd path around the worst places so standard vehicles never have to worry. if you do get stuck, were a friendly bunch and will happily pull you out of trouble. but do remember that gettin stuck is a 1 month sentence to having the **** taken on the forum:D

Thanks Mark, we will make sure that in the not too distant future we will join you guy's..

If we get stuck we deserve the month long **** taking ritual...

i will give this one a miss, but i do want to do salisbury again at some point soon. D71 and Mark, at some point we will have to make a proper day or weekend of it if it can be sorted! was a good evenings laning in the summer, just a little brief!

sounds like a plan Batman. i gotta spend some time sortin the disco out this month, got a potential water pump failure and a few leaks i need to sort, but probably jan onwards il have a bit more time and money for laning.

i think Pikey got summat planned for early next year, but im sure i can plan a day on the plains and surrounding areas before then. be good to spend a day in a mud hole

No never saw that But I went thru just before Mark and nearly rolled the 90 meself. Track was on a cross slope and it had a big run off channel in the middle reckon angle had to be between 45 & 50 degrees. and ya had to put ya wheel in the runoff to get across. was well dodgy. If the look on Bigdave's face was owt ta go by He'd touched cloth.

:hysterically_laughi it was his comment of "i think we might roll here" that got me going!! out of his side window he can just see rock about 6" from the glass, all i can see is sky, the land meter was WAY past 45deg.
conversation carried on ......

"we can only go forward cause i aint going back"

'il hold on tight then'
