Have you had an infra red temp sensor on the thermostat housing to see if it really is getting to hot before wasting your money????
 
UPDATE

bought a infra red sensor. Various pics below showing readings from various places with the dial reading and then with the heater on

If you are going to use one of those , make sure you read the instruction manual and understand about the emissivity and the cone of reading / distance / area.

You to far away from the point at which your trying to measure...around the thermostat housing area in a good start.
