hope you guys like it , tim

Hi i really like it and one day i aim to do something similar with my seres 3 or sereis 2 whatever one needs the attention first i like the disc brakes on the rear i bet they make a huge difference

I hope it's registered as a Disco with an altered body 'cos a few peeps with as near as genuine as is practicable tax exempt vehicles will be seriously ****ed off if you're passing that off as a S3.

Never seen a genuine F reg series 3;)

Nice Work???

Tis an abomination:doh::doh::doh:

If thats driving round as an F reg its also illegal:rolleyes::rolleyes:

did i also spot a series 3 black plastic dash ?? if so wow quite a parts bin there how did you manage to get it on a series 2 registration ??

Looks like a nice job, but if a knowledgable copper stops you could be in trouble.
Dont forget as its Norfolk the cops stop you for petty things as not much else happens!
Ps i cant see a single s2 component?

:)Well i like it, building a 109 coiler, just for a giggle, started out as a drunken idea at peterbourgh lro show and sort of mushroomed from there. Doing things a bit different to you tho, using the 109 chassis and welding on the the bits i need, good on you,
Dave

yea the donor disco was a 300tdi manual with 24 splines , brakes are great ,i believe its because when u plumb disks into a mastercylinder ment for drums obv disks dont need as much fluid to engage the brakes hence u get good stopping power and you can leave all your pedals as they are and just use adapters for the pipes

just to put everyones minds at ease im due for an sva so will all be legite, i retained 3 items of the s2 seatbox/truckcab/tub that means its okay yea ?? jw can ****ant get by with an enginners report to get on the road?? thanks for everyones intrest and advice !

:pop2:
No it won't be ok. The vehicle type will be based on the chassis, not the body. So in this case the vehicle will be a modified disco.
The DVLA use a points system to determine "originality", which others, with more knowledge then me, can expound in the following posts.
Let's just say that there is no way, legally, that vehicle is anything other than a disco.

that will not be a series 2 legally, i looked into it with my series 2a hybrid, and even with 2.25 petrol, standard gearbox, diffs, most of the bodywork could still not be registered as a series. the points system works *something* like this:

body
axles
chassis
engine
transmition
suspension

and each area is worth a number of points (i cant renember what though) and you basically have to have to have enough of the areas standard to still be registered as a series 2....

  • chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
  • suspension = 2 points
  • axles = 2 points
  • transmission = 2 points
  • steering assembly = 2 points
  • engine = 1 point

"Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated, IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required."
